I just left mine on a shelf because I didn’t feel like drilling into the wall, and it works okay for me. I figure unless your shelf is super low or behind a bunch of stuff, you probably won’t notice much of a difference.
I noticed that too when I first plugged mine in. Just felt like a tiny lag off the line then it smoothed out after a couple days. Been fine ever since so probably just the learning thing they mention.
Honestly, it’s a handle on a scale, not a piece of gym equipment. I just pull it out gently, do the scan, and put it back. Hasn’t given me any trouble in the few weeks I’ve had mine.
It’s not that deep really. Plug it in, switch it to access point mode, and it’ll work with whatever router you have. I’d just grab it.
I’ve used a similar 30W one with a Dell XPS before and it worked fine for a slow top-up while I was using it. It’s not going to charge fast or from empty, but for keeping the battery from dying it’s totally fine.
Appreciate all the input, that helps a lot. Seems like most people just play it by ear based on taste or flow rather than sticking to the exact 4 week rule. I’ll probably just grab one and see how it goes with my own usage before worrying too much about the schedule. Thanks for the thoughts
I’d probably still try it if I were you. I don’t have the best insulation here either and it does seem to run a lot, but it’s not like the room gets hot enough to bother me. It kind of just keeps things tolerable, if that makes sense. I’m not totally sure how much worse it would be with a fully uninsulated ceiling though.
Pretty sure it’s just a snap-off replacement, no tools or anything. I’ve seen a couple people mention it’s pretty straightforward.
It’s a spot heater, plain and simple. I wouldn’t expect it to warm the whole room if there’s a draft.
Huh, that’s interesting. I’ve had the opposite experience so far, mine’s been tracking pretty accurately for me. Maybe it’s just a calibration thing or something.
Mine does that too. It’s just a quick little warning beep before the full siren kicks in. I think they all do it, nothing weird about yours.
I mean, it’s just Bluetooth, so yeah, you have to be pretty close for it to work live. Not really a big deal if you just want to know where you last had your bag before it went missing.
I get what you’re going for, but I’m not totally convinced it’ll do much for a whole 120 sq ft room on its own. I’ve got one and it’s more of a spot warmer than anything else to me.
I tried it for TV and it was fine for catching dialogue I’d normally miss. I just keep mine on the TV mode and don’t think about it much. Works for what I need.

I can see why you’d be skeptical, marketing claims can be hit or miss. I’ve had good luck with mine on a regular hose though, the connection felt solid and didn’t give me any trouble. Might depend a bit on the specific washer you get, but it’s not just made up.
I think the tilt on mine is fine for a low desk, but I’m not totally sure if it would stay put if you nudge it. The angle adjustment feels a bit stiff to me, so it doesn’t slip on its own, but I usually just set it and leave it alone. Works well enough for what I need though.
Mine gets warm too, usually after a few hours of streaming. I just set it on a hard surface instead of the couch and it seems fine.
I just charge mine every couple weeks and it’s never actually died on me mid-week or anything. Seems to hold up fine for normal use.
Thanks for the replies, that pretty much answers what I was wondering about. Sounds like it’s mostly automatic, but not perfect for really short naps. I’ll just keep wearing it and see how it goes for me.
I noticed the same thing at first, but the higher levels definitely have more kick to them. Might just be how they designed it so the lower settings are gentler for sensitive dogs.
I think it’s mainly for hanging honestly, but I tried using it once to hook my finger and it just felt unnatural. It’s not something I’d rely on for control, but the knife itself works fine for me.
Funny how the title says “placement question” but the actual post is about the light instead. I was curious about where to put mine too but the light thing is a bit distracting.
Yeah, the butterfly shape threw me off at first too. I think mine felt normal after about a week and a half, so you’re probably almost there.
Yeah I get what you mean about the battery, feels like it drains quicker than I expected but I haven’t really timed it or anything. The whistling hasn’t been a huge problem for me, maybe I just got lucky with the fit.
