I’m thinking about getting an Epicooler for my place, but the ceiling isn’t insulated and it gets pretty hot in summer. Curious if anyone here has tried one in a room like that and if it actually makes a difference or just runs constantly.

I’ve got one in a room with a pretty dodgy ceiling and it actually helps. It runs a lot but it’s not like it’s struggling or anything, just keeps things bearable. I wouldn’t say it’s magic but it’s definitely better than nothing.

I’d still give it a shot. Even with no ceiling insulation, it’ll cool down the area right around you.

I’ve got one and my ceiling isn’t insulated either. It definitely runs more often than it would in a well-insulated room, but it still keeps the area around me comfortable enough that I don’t mind. I wouldn’t expect it to cool the whole space evenly, but for sitting at my desk or on the couch it’s been fine.

I’ve got one and honestly the no insulation thing isn’t as big a deal as people make it out to be. It runs a bit more but it still keeps the spot I’m sitting in comfortable, so I wouldn’t overthink it.

I’d say give it a try. My ceiling situation isn’t great either and it still takes the edge off enough that I don’t dread summer afternoons. It runs a fair bit but it’s not annoyingly loud or anything.

I’d probably still try it if I were you. I don’t have the best insulation here either and it does seem to run a lot, but it’s not like the room gets hot enough to bother me. It kind of just keeps things tolerable, if that makes sense. I’m not totally sure how much worse it would be with a fully uninsulated ceiling though.

Honestly I think it depends how close you’re willing to sit to it. Mine’s in a room with zero ceiling insulation and it keeps me cool enough if I’m within a few feet, but the far side of the room barely feels it. Still better than sweating through the night though, so I’d say it’s worth a try.

I think people worry too much about the insulation thing. Mine runs a bit more than it might otherwise but it still cools the room down just fine.

Honestly, if you’re sitting near it I think you’ll be fine even without ceiling insulation. It’s not like it’s trying to cool the whole house, just the spot you’re in.

I’d probably just aim it right at where you sit and call it a day. No ceiling insulation just means it’ll cycle more but you’ll still feel it.

I’d probably just set it up and see how it feels. No ceiling insulation is going to make it work harder but that doesn’t mean it’s useless. As long as you’re okay with it running more often it’ll probably still take the edge off.

I mean, it’s a portable unit not a whole house setup, so ceiling insulation isn’t really the end of the world for it. It’ll probably just run a bit longer to keep up, but you should still feel the difference sitting near it.

I’d probably just try it and see how it goes honestly. Without ceiling insulation it’ll probably cycle on and off more but if you sit near the unit you should feel it. I’ve got mine in a room with okay insulation and it keeps me comfortable enough even when it’s warm.
