JSmithParticipantProbably picks up again quickly. I wouldn’t worry about a 10 day gap, the device isn’t that delicate.
9 de June de 2026 at 10:17 in reply to: Does Omnihear work well enough for watching TV in a quiet room? #2605
JSmithParticipantProbably works fine if you’re just missing bits of dialogue in a quiet room. I’d say give it a shot and see if it’s enough for you.
JSmithParticipantI wouldn’t worry too much about it. Waking up once or twice is pretty normal, especially as you get older. Could just be a phase that sorts itself out.
3 de June de 2026 at 22:15 in reply to: Does the Matsato blade stay sharp long enough for daily cooking? #2211
JSmithParticipantI cook most nights too and honestly it’s not something I’d overthink. The ice hardening probably helps a bit but even a basic knife needs a touch up now and then. As long as you’re not expecting it to stay razor sharp for months, it’ll be fine for daily use.
JSmithParticipantI think you might be overthinking it. The timer is just peace of mind so you don’t accidentally leave it running for hours.
JSmithParticipantI think it really depends on what kind of barking your dog does. Maybe the quieter ones just aren’t loud enough to trigger it consistently. Not totally sure if that’s a flaw or just how it works.
2 de June de 2026 at 18:31 in reply to: Does the Black Falcon Drone actually handle wind okay? #2095
JSmithParticipantIt’s a lightweight drone, so if you’re expecting it to fight gusts like a bigger rig you’ll be disappointed, but for a little breeze it’s whatever. I’ve had mine out on a not-calm day and it got bumped around, but the footage was still watchable for social media stuff. People overthink this.
JSmithParticipantUsed it on my black sedan a couple weeks ago. No haze or anything weird after buffing, just a clean shine. Did exactly what I needed for light swirls.
1 de June de 2026 at 11:12 in reply to: Does the Ozoori actually need to be charged that often? #1994
JSmithParticipantI just charge mine whenever I notice the light is low and it’s never been a problem. It still seems to do its job keeping smells down even when the battery isn’t full.
JSmithParticipantTried mine on a brick patio and it cleared the moss off pretty quick. Noticed a few surface scuffs but nothing worse than what the moss already leaves behind. Seems fine for the job if you don’t go crazy with it.
29 de May de 2026 at 20:28 in reply to: Does Repellio actually bother pets or is that just a warning? #1788
JSmithParticipantI mean, it could just be the cat being weird. They get like that sometimes for no reason.
29 de May de 2026 at 17:17 in reply to: Does the Qinux Vapoxis really get into grout lines as well as my old steam mop? #1771
JSmithParticipantI’d imagine the handheld part makes it easier to aim into grout lines, but I’m not totally sure the steam pressure alone saves you from wiping. I think you still end up wiping a bit no matter what.
JSmithParticipantMine was pretty tight after the boil-and-bite too. It loosened up a bit after a few nights, but it never got super loose. I think some tightness is just part of how it works.
JSmithParticipantI think that’s just how these digital night vision units work. The IR draws a lot of power, so medium setting still drains it fairly quick. Probably not a dud, just the nature of the thing.
21 de May de 2026 at 10:59 in reply to: Does the battery really only last 15 mins? kinda worried #1237
JSmithParticipant15 minutes sounds about right for a cordless blower that size. If you stick to just the patio and a quick car blow-off you should be fine.
JSmithParticipantAlright, thanks for the replies. Sounds like it’s decent enough for what I need, probably just overthinking it. I’ll grab one and see how it goes.
JSmithParticipantSprays are hit or miss. I tried one and it just made my apartment smell like a wet dog with perfume on top. Not really an improvement. If you’re in a studio maybe just crack a window more often after baths.
20 de May de 2026 at 09:28 in reply to: Qinux BitBip 89: adding games and saves — anyone figured this out? #1102
JSmithParticipantHonestly I just threw a bunch of ROMs on a USB stick and it worked fine for me. Saves are a bit random depending on the game but I never really messed with settings. Menu is what it is, I just scroll through it.
17 de May de 2026 at 20:06 in reply to: Should I pack a small FM radio for a weekend train trip or just use my phone? #1001
JSmithParticipantMaybe check whether your phone actually has an FM chip first. I think a surprising number do, so that could save you from lugging anything extra, but not totally sure which phones.
JSmithParticipantYeah the remote is annoyingly tiny and mushy. I just drop it in a small dish on my desk so it doesn’t disappear and I don’t mash the wrong buttons, I think.
JSmithParticipantI disagree. I wouldn’t bank on the UV part doing much long term. I’d probably skip the AirdrobeX and get a heated drying rack or save for a small condenser dryer.
14 de May de 2026 at 16:46 in reply to: Do handheld car vacuums actually pull pet hair out of cloth seats? #769
JSmithParticipantNot just crumbs, they actually pull a surprising amount of pet hair from cloth seats, though some stubborn bits will stay.
JSmithParticipantSeems fine to keep the old one if it still works. New travel packs do add organization and protection but also weight and fiddly pockets, so only swap if you actually miss those features. No need to fuss until it stops doing the job.
JSmithParticipantFor a couple tiny dead spots, a cheap extender or one extra access point will probably sort it out without a full mesh setup. Mesh is nicer to manage, but not always necessary.
JSmithParticipantI have one and the filter clogs fast. Cleaning helps but suction drops sooner than I expected and I still see dust around vents. Handy for quick messes, just not a miracle HEPA.
JSmithParticipantI’d give it a week, try a couple of different settings and see if your dog stops reacting or just ignores it. If it’s still spotty after that I’d return it or put the money toward a different training method. Not worth hanging on to if it’s inconsistent.
