I just stuck mine directly on the phone under the case and haven’t noticed any difference. I figure if it’s passive, a little plastic or rubber shouldn’t mess with it.

I haven’t run mine all the way dead yet, but I usually just use it as a lantern without the repellent on and it lasts way longer than that. The repellent feature probably just draws a lot more power than people expect.

Thanks for all the input everyone. Seems like it handles wool well enough if you’re not blasting it on high heat, which is basically what I figured. Good enough for me to give it a try.

I’ve used mine on low a few times and it lasted maybe 6 or 7 hours before it gave out. Not totally sure it’ll go the full 8 unless you start at full charge.

Mine has a little bit of play in it too. I wouldn’t say it feels like it’s going to break, just not super tight. Probably just how they made them.
