Mine has been plugged in nonstop since I got it around Christmas, so I can’t speak to unplugging it. But I figure these things are cheap to run, so I just leave it.
The hole changed how I hold the knife more than I expected. My grip ended up further forward than with my old one, which actually helped with onions but felt clumsy on bigger stuff.
Reading in a tent is mostly about having a light you can point down at the pages, and combo lights usually hang and glare right in your eyes. My old lantern has a reflector that pushes light where I need it, which matters more than the extra features. If you mostly read before bed, I’d keep the lantern and use the combo purely for the mosquito side.
I’ve seen quite a few people say theirs runs warm too, so it probably is normal, but mine never really got warm at all. I’ve had it plugged in for a little over a month now and the casing stays pretty much room temperature whenever I touch it. Maybe it depends on the outlet or what’s running on the same circuit at the time. I’ve got mine in a spot where there’s not a ton of stuff drawing power nearby, so that might make a difference. If yours is noticeably warm but not hot, I’d guess it’s fine, but I’d probably keep an eye on it just to see if the temperature changes over time. If it ever gets too warm to leave your hand on it, then I’d start looking into it more.
I actually had the opposite experience with mine. I kept English/Spanish and English/Japanese saved and after a few switches the app seemed to get confused about which pair was active. It translated into the wrong language once or twice during a conversation, which was awkward. I just reset it to one pair and it’s been smoother since.
I would just toss it in a ziplock bag if you’re worried. That’s what I do with small tools like this and it works fine. The tips are tiny but as long as you keep them together somehow you’re good.
I ran mine in the bedroom for a couple of weeks and the airflow is definitely smoother, not as aggressive as a tower fan. But what stood out to me was how easy it is to move around, I just pick it up and take it to the kitchen or desk without dragging a cord. The old fan stayed in one spot forever because I was too lazy to unplug it.
I think the repellent part is more about keeping bugs from buzzing around the light itself, not creating a force field around you. I’ve had mine out a few nights and the bugs were definitely hanging back from the lamp, but I could still hear them near my head. I’d treat it as a nice bonus, not a replacement for spray.
I wouldn’t count on it staying perfectly flat. Mine has a persistent wave along the bottom edge no matter how I hang it, and it does show up during bright scenes. It’s fine for casual watching but if you’re picky about image quality, you’ll probably be adjusting it more than you’d like.
I think the limescale thing is a bit of a stretch honestly. These shower head filters are so small that they can only do so much. I’d say if you’re in a really hard water area, it might help a little at first, but it won’t fix the buildup you already have. I wouldn’t buy it just for that.
Mine does the same thing when I lean sideways to grab the remote. I think the straps just need a bit of tension, but there’s no real way to lock it in place. The massage part works well enough that I just reposition it when it shifts.
I think the vibration level is one thing, but how long you hold it in one spot matters way more. I ran strong mode along my gumline for a few days straight and my gums felt raw, so now I just use it for a couple seconds on the worst spots and move on.
If you already have a smart meter or a newer panel, I don’t think the distance matters as much. My house is older, so I didn’t want to mess around with the garage setup either. I ended up putting mine in the laundry room, just because that outlet was closest to the kitchen and all the big appliances run off that side of the house. I figured that was a decent middle ground. I’m not about to run an extension cord from the garage into my living room just to make it look right. As long as the green light is on, I leave it be. I mainly got it to smooth out the power dips when the fridge kicks on, and it seems to handle that fine from where it sits. Placement probably matters, but not enough to make me rearrange my whole house.
I’ve noticed the same thing with mine. It does that pause thing fairly regularly, especially when it’s been running for a while. I just figured it was the thermostat doing its thing, like it hits the temp and backs off for a bit before kicking back in. Mine does it more in cooling mode than heating, or at least it feels that way. It hasn’t bothered me much since the room stays comfortable either way. I wouldn’t stress about it too much if the temperature is holding where you set it. If it was cycling every few seconds that’d be one thing, but a brief pause here and there seems pretty normal for these units. I’ve had mine for a couple months now and it’s been fine, so I’d say just let it do its thing.
It’s probably not just you, but I think it’s more about the room than the heater itself. I run mine in my office during the day and I’ve noticed the air feels a little different after a few hours, but my place is pretty dry to begin with. I wouldn’t say the WellHeater is any worse than other ones I’ve used. It’s actually been doing a solid job of keeping the room comfortable without that stuffy feeling I get from some space heaters. I just crack the window a tiny bit when I’m in there for a long stretch, and that seems to help. Otherwise, it’s been working fine for me and I’m happy with it.
Honestly, I wouldn’t worry too much about it taking forever. I’ve thrown thick stuff in mine and it gets there, just not instantly. I think people expect it to work like a regular dryer and it’s just not that kind of machine. If you’re not in a rush, it’s fine.
We got one in our back room that gets hammered by sun in the afternoon. Does the job well enough, keeps it comfortable without feeling like the air is being blasted at you. Not totally sure how it would hold up in a bigger space, but for a normal bedroom I think you’d be fine.
I usually just charge it up the night before and don’t worry about it too much. For a small patio with some moss spots I think you’d be fine.
I think they do actually cool the room down, not just blow air. I’ve seen one in a 10×10 space and it made a clear difference on a hot day. Not totally sure if it’ll handle the whole season, but for taking the edge off it should be fine.
I think if you can feel it pulling on your hand, it’s probably got enough suction to do the job. I wouldn’t worry too much about testing it on something more realistic unless you really want to. It’s one of those things you just hope you never have to use for real.
I got one for my small bedroom and it works fine for taking the chill off. It won’t make the room toasty warm, but it definitely helps so I don’t have to run the central heat all night.
I think it’s probably less of a hassle than it looks. The foam is pretty forgiving so it just kind of squishes into whatever space is left.
I’d just try it and see what happens. The neighbor’s dog might not care about the sound at all, or it might get annoyed enough to quiet down for a bit.
