The map pin tends to lag a bit behind real life, so the spot you saw was probably from the last time your phone actually connected to the tag. Mine updates whenever I’m near it but stays put otherwise, which is fine for a bag.
I actually moved mine to the kitchen a while back and ended up moving it right back out. The kitchen has too much stuff in the way, cabinets and appliances and all that, and it just didn’t seem to reach much. It’s been way more useful in my bedroom where there’s less clutter. So from my experience the room really does change things.
Mine actually gets more use on my shoulders than anywhere else, so I’m a bit surprised by the other replies. The trick for me was putting the pads lower than I first thought, more toward the back of the shoulder than the top, and that made a real difference. I still use it most evenings after work and it does enough for me to keep it charged and ready.
I’ve had mine going overnight for about three months now and the noise has never been a problem for me. There’s a soft sound on the low setting but it blends into the background and I sleep right through it. My partner is the picky one and even she hasn’t complained, so that says something.

If I were in your spot, I’d just skip it unless you can find a straight answer from the company about which languages actually work offline. That’s the thing that would bug me. I use mine mostly for music and calls, and the translation part is more of a fun extra when I’m around people who don’t speak English. I’ve messed with the app settings a bit and there are language packs you can grab, so the offline capability isn’t totally made up, but the wording in the marketing is so fuzzy that you genuinely can’t tell what you’re getting until you try it yourself. For me it’s not a dealbreaker because I never bought them expecting them to work like a standalone gadget with zero connection. If offline is your main reason for buying though, I’d wait until they publish something concrete, or find someone who’s tested your specific language pair. Otherwise you’re kind of gambling on vague marketing.
If you’re reapplying just for the UV claim, I think you’re wasting your time. I’ve used it on my car for about two months and the water beading fades after a couple of washes, so a UV layer is probably long gone by then too. The scratch filling is what you’re paying for.
I grabbed one mainly for my morning smoothie situation and it’s been fine with anything cold I’ve thrown at it. Nothing fancy, it just does the job without me having to babysit it. The cold retention is honestly the part I notice most since I’m slow sipping all morning.

Good to know it wore off for some of you. I think my brain just got wired to that old screen after years of use, so it’s taking longer than expected. Either way the app is what I’ve got now, so I’ll stop waiting for a monitor to magically appear.
I get why the 5 minute thing sounds like a stretch, but it’s not as off as it sounds if you’re talking about a small bedroom and you’re sitting close to it. Mine puts out noticeable heat pretty much right after I turn it on, and the room itself feels less chilly within maybe 10 or 15 minutes, not 5. That said, I wouldn’t expect the whole room to feel evenly toasty that fast, more like the area around the heater warms up and then it slowly spreads. For taking the chill off before bed, I think it works fine. I usually turn mine on while I’m getting ready for bed and by the time I get in, the room is comfortable enough. It’s not going to feel like central heating blasting through the whole house, but for a bedroom it does the job without much fuss.
I actually ran mine down to nothing the first week because I kept forgetting to set it back on the dock, and it still charged up fine afterward. So whatever charge it ships with isn’t some fragile thing you have to baby. I don’t think there’s a strict rule here.

I’d handle it differently. My setup is in the living room, and I just use a short extension cord tucked along the baseboard so it doesn’t cross the walking path. The unit stays where it is and I don’t have to think about it. If you really need to move it, the cord is part of how it runs, so an outlet strip near your spot makes more sense than trying to carry it around. I’ve had mine for a while now and it’s been fine as a stationary thing. It’s not something I’d drag from room to room anyway. If the outlet placement is the main issue, I’d pick one spot where you normally lie down and keep the cord out of the way there. That’s what worked for me.

I use a hub with mine and it’s been totally fine, wireless still connects every time I get in the car. The only thing I noticed is the adapter sometimes takes a couple extra seconds to boot up compared to plugging it straight in. Other than that, no complaints at all.
I’ve had my ClairLite for a while now and I mostly just hit the timer before I leave the room. The remote is handy when I’m right there, but I never really expected it to reach through a wall. For me the bigger thing was getting into the habit of starting it on my way out and letting the auto shutoff do its job. It’s been a pretty easy routine once I stopped overthinking the remote part. If you’re set on controlling it from another room you might be disappointed, but the timer works fine for everyday use. I usually run mine in the kitchen after cooking and it’s nice not having to go back in until it’s done.
Small dogs and chunkier collars just don’t mix in my book. A 12 lb terrier has barely any neck to work with, so anything wider than a basic flat strap is going to feel like a lot on them. I’ve never had good luck with the bulkier tracking collars on my little ones for that exact reason.
Mine sits lower than I expected too, and I just let it. The trapezius area is honestly where I feel it most, especially after a long day at the desk. So I’d say don’t fight it if it drifts down there, that’s a good spot for it.

Worth playing around with placement before you write it off completely. Mine’s been fine since I made that switch.
Mine actually does translate without me touching the app if I leave it running in the background. I tested it on a trip last month, glasses paired, app open but phone in my bag, and I just tapped the touch control to start a translation and it worked fine. So I wouldn’t say the app has to be in your face every single time. It does need to be alive back there though, that part is true.
The thing I noticed is that if I fully close the app or my phone kills it to save battery, then yeah, nothing happens and I look like an idiot talking to my glasses. But as long as it’s still sitting in the background, I can go a whole afternoon without actually opening it. I keep it pinned on my phone so it doesn’t get cleared out. So you’re not really missing some hidden setting, it’s more about how your phone manages the app in the background.
