I’ve had the Repellio plugged in for a couple weeks now and it seems fine, but I’m not sure if it’s actually doing much. Has anyone noticed a difference depending on which room it’s in? I’m thinking about moving it to the kitchen since that’s where I see the most activity, but I don’t want to waste my time if it’s all the same. Just curious if placement really matters or if I’m overthinking it.

Placement doesn’t matter much, honestly the kitchen idea is overrated.

Placement absolutely matters. I had mine in a hallway for a month and nothing changed, then moved it to the room where I actually kept seeing ants and they cleared out in about a week. Same unit, same settings, just a different outlet. So yeah, parking it where the activity is makes a real difference in my experience.

I actually prefer keeping mine in the bedroom since that’s where I’d hear mice scratching at night, and it’s been quiet since. Placement might matter less than just having it near wherever you spend the most time noticing them.

I’ve got one in my laundry room and it’s been the only spot where I actually noticed a change. Same unit did basically nothing in my living room, so for me placement is the whole thing. Kitchen might be worth a shot if that’s where the action is.

I’d push back a bit on the idea that placement is basically irrelevant. In my place it made a real difference. I had one in the front room for close to two months and honestly forgot it was even plugged in because nothing changed. Then I moved the same unit to the pantry area off the kitchen after seeing roaches near the cereal boxes, and within about three weeks I stopped seeing them altogether. Same device, different spot, totally different result. I think it comes down to walls and how open the space is. The front room has a doorway and a half wall, while the pantry spot is a small closed-in space, so the sound probably fills it up better. Kitchen might actually be a good move for you, especially if it’s a smaller room. I wouldn’t expect miracles in a big open floor plan though.

Mine’s been in the same spot for about a month and I did notice more activity near it at first, then it kind of tapered off. That’s the only reason I haven’t moved mine around much. Not sure I’d bother chasing the ants to a new room, but if the kitchen is where you’re seeing them, it’s not like it costs you anything to try.

Kitchen made the biggest difference for me.

Placement made a noticeable difference for me. I had one in a spare room for a few weeks and basically forgot it was there, then tried it in the room where I was actually seeing activity and noticed way less within a couple weeks. Kitchen seems like a solid call if that’s where the action is.

Rooms with more open space seem to work better in my experience. I had mine tucked behind a couch for a while and it did basically nothing, then moved it to an open hallway and noticed way less activity within a week. Kitchen might be worth a shot if that’s where you’re seeing them.

Placement probably matters more than people give it credit for, but not in the way I expected. I had mine in a hallway for a while and honestly couldn’t tell you if it was doing anything at all. Then I moved it to my basement where we’d been seeing the odd mouse, and within about a week the activity dropped off. Could be a coincidence, but I don’t think so because the hallway spot was basically a dead zone. The thing is, basements and kitchens have way more hiding spots and entry points, so maybe it’s less about the room itself and more about what’s actually going on in that room. If the kitchen is where you’re seeing them, that’s probably where you want it, even just to test it out. Worst case you move it back and you’re out five minutes of your time.

I actually moved mine to the kitchen a while back and ended up moving it right back out. The kitchen has too much stuff in the way, cabinets and appliances and all that, and it just didn’t seem to reach much. It’s been way more useful in my bedroom where there’s less clutter. So from my experience the room really does change things.

I keep mine by the basement stairs and it’s been fine.

I noticed placement mattered most based on outlet height in my place. The one I had low near the floor barely did anything, but moving it to a higher outlet in the same room seemed to help. Kitchen might be worth a shot but counters and appliances can block it.

Room size matters more than which room it is. I had one doing nothing in a big open living room, then tried it in a tiny laundry room and pests actually cleared out. Same device, same settings. So yeah, I’d say moving it around is worth a shot before you assume it’s useless.

I feel like the room itself matters less than what’s actually in the room, if that makes sense. I had mine in a bedroom for a few weeks and didn’t notice much, then moved it to a spare room that’s mostly empty and that’s where I actually started seeing a difference. Not dramatic or anything, but enough that I left it there. My guess is it’s more about how much stuff is between the device and wherever the pests are coming in. A kitchen sounds good in theory since that’s where the action is, but kitchens are also full of stuff that could block things. Might be worth trying anyway since you can just unplug it and move it back. I didn’t notice any huge change overnight either, took a week or two before I felt like it was doing something.

I’ve had mine in a few different spots and ended up just leaving it where I spend the most time. Noticed no real difference room to room, but I also don’t have a huge place. Kitchen sounds like as good a spot as any.

Mine’s been in the hallway for about a month and honestly I think it does more in smaller enclosed spots. Tried it in the kitchen once and didn’t notice a difference, so I just left it where it was.

I moved mine to the kitchen a while back thinking the same thing and it made zero difference for me. I ended up putting it back where it was. If you’re happy with where it is, I’d probably just leave it.

Room choice barely matters if there’s nothing drawing them in, in my opinion. I had mine in a spare bedroom for close to two months and it did nothing, then moved it near the kitchen trash and under the sink and I actually started seeing less activity within a week. Same device, same settings. My take is the food and water source matters more than the room label. If the kitchen is where they’re getting into stuff, that’s where I’d put it, not because kitchens are magic but because that’s the actual problem area. I’ve also got a second one in the garage now since one unit clearly wasn’t cutting it across the whole place. Two outlets covered way more ground than one ever did. So no, I don’t think you’re wasting time moving it, just don’t expect the room itself to fix anything if there’s still a mess attracting them.

Fair enough, I’ll just leave it where it is.
