I’m thinking about picking up an Ozoori but I’m not sure if it comes ready to go out of the box. Does it need a full charge before I put it in the fridge? I don’t want to wait around if I can just plug it in and use it right away. Also wondering if the initial charge takes long.

Mine didn’t need a full charge first. I plugged it in for like 20 minutes and tossed it in the fridge, worked fine. The initial charge does take a few hours if you want it completely full though.

Mine only lasted a couple days on whatever charge it shipped with, so I’d plug it in first. Overnight was enough to get it full. Waiting a few hours beats having it die mid week.

Mine came with a bit of charge already, but I just topped it up for maybe half an hour while I was unloading groceries. Tossed it in after that and it’s been fine.

I picked one up for my garage fridge mostly because it smells like old onions no matter what I do. Took it out of the box and it had enough juice to run, so I dropped it in right away. Figured I’d deal with the charging later. It ran for maybe a week and a half before the light started blinking at me, which was shorter than the four weeks they advertise but not shocking for a first run. When I finally plugged it in, I want to say it took a couple hours to go from blinking to solid. I didn’t sit there watching it, just left it on the counter while I did other stuff.

So yeah, you can use it straight out of the box. But the first stretch is going to be shorter than a full charge, so if you want the full run time from the start, top it up first. Not a big deal either way. My bigger gripe is that nobody tells you how long the thing actually takes to charge. The manual just says “charge before use” like that’s helpful. Also the blinking light is annoying as hell when it’s sitting in the fridge and you open the door.

I just used mine straight out of the box and it worked right away, so you don’t have to wait for a full charge. Plug it in while you’re putting groceries away and it’ll be fine. Mine took a few hours to hit full though, so don’t expect it to be done in 10 minutes.

It doesn’t come fully charged. I got maybe two days out of the box charge before it died, so I’d plug it in while you’re putting groceries away.

Probably worth topping it up first.

I usually just plug new stuff in while I do other things, so that part wouldn’t bother me much. What I’d actually want to know is whether the first charge is one of those weird ones where it says full but then dies fast. I’ve had that happen with a couple of small rechargeable gadgets and it’s annoying because you think you’re set and then it quits on you two days later.

If it’s USB C and you’re already putting groceries away, I don’t see the harm in leaving it plugged in for a bit before it goes in the fridge. I wouldn’t plan my whole day around it though. Worst case you charge it, use it, and then top it up again later when you remember.

The part I’d be more curious about is how it actually performs in a normal fridge with normal food in it, not just an empty one. A lot of these little devices sound great on paper but the real test is whether you notice a difference after a week of leftovers and half used produce sitting in there. That matters more to me than whether the box charge is full or not.

Mine sat on the counter for a day before I even bothered plugging it in, and it still ran fine when I finally tossed it in. Everyone’s acting like you need to baby this thing through a full charge cycle first. It’s a fridge gadget, not a phone.

The one thing I’d actually pay attention to is whether the light comes on when you hit the button. If it powers up out of the box, just use it. Waiting around for a “proper” first charge is the kind of thing people repeat because they read it somewhere, not because the thing actually cares.

That said, I wouldn’t expect much from the first few days either way. Mine took a while to make any noticeable difference in the smell, which had nothing to do with charging and everything to do with the thing just being slow to do its job.

Mine had enough juice to run for about a week before I finally plugged it in, so it wasn’t dead on arrival or anything. I just charged it overnight the first time and it’s been fine since.

I picked one up a couple months ago and had a similar question. I ended up charging it before putting it in because I figured a fridge is a cold place and I didn’t want it dying on me in there. Mine took maybe two hours to get a full charge, nothing crazy. But here’s the thing, I don’t actually think it was necessary to wait. I checked the little light when I first unboxed it and it was already showing some charge, so it clearly wasn’t dead or anything. If I’m being real, I probably could have just tossed it in and charged it later when it got low. I just didn’t want to deal with taking it out again once it was in there doing its thing. So if you’re impatient, I’d say just plug it in for a bit while you’re unloading groceries and call it good. You don’t need to sit around waiting for some long charging session. Mine has been fine ever since and I only plug it in when it starts acting sluggish or the light changes. It’s not a complicated thing. The initial charge isn’t some big event you have to plan your day around.

Still deciding myself, so I don’t have a firm answer. But the fact that it’s USB-C means you can just plug it in while you’re unloading groceries and it’ll probably have enough to get going.

I plugged mine in for maybe 20 minutes and tossed it in the fridge. No idea if that was the right move but it’s been running fine for weeks. I’m not the type to wait around for a full charge on stuff like this.

Mine needed a charge before it did anything.

Mine came with a partial charge and I used it right away without topping it off. It still lasted a good while before the light started blinking. If you want the full battery life though, a top-up first is smart.

Mine didn’t need a full charge at all, but it also didn’t do much on the first day. Took a couple days before I noticed any difference in the fridge, so I wouldn’t expect instant results just because you skipped the charging wait.

Ended up plugging mine in for about ten minutes and it was fine. Don’t think a full charge matters much on day one. Heading out to grab groceries now, so I’ll see how it does.
