Thinking of putting the Qinux PolarBreeze on a shelf above my desk. Does the airflow actually reach down or does it just blow straight out? Not looking to cook my face in summer, just need some air moving. Anyone tried it up high?

My take shifted after seeing one in person at a friend’s place. Before that I figured a little bladeless cooler on a shelf would be basically decorative, one of those things that looks neat in a video and then sits there. But the airflow does come out in a wide spread rather than a narrow jet, so from up high it drifts down instead of blasting across the room. Whether that reaches your face at desk level is another story. In my friend’s setup the shelf was maybe a foot or so above where he sat and he could feel it, but it was gentle, more like moving air than cooling. Which honestly is all he wanted. The part that surprised me is that I stopped thinking of it as a summer-only thing. He leaves it running on low most of the year just to keep the air from feeling stale in that little room, and the noise never came up once while we were talking. So my earlier assumption that it was a gimmick mostly faded. It is not going to chill a whole room, and I would not expect miracles from a shelf mount. But as a low-key air mover up high it makes more sense to me now than it did before I saw one working.
