MemberJust tried the brush attachment on my couch and it seemed to grab more than the crevice tool. Not sure if I’m using it right though. Does anyone else use the brush for upholstery or am I better off sticking with the slim nozzle? I’ve only had the Dustaclean for a couple weeks so still figuring out the best combo for pet hair on fabric.

MemberThe brush works better on my cushions too.

MemberI mostly use the brush on the couch cushions and save the crevice tool for the gaps between them. Pet hair clings to fabric enough that the brush just pulls it up better for me. Figure out what works on your couch and stick with it.

Rachel ColeMemberThe brush is the only attachment I bother with on fabric. I’ve had mine about a month and the slim nozzle just skates over the cushion and leaves the hair behind. The brush drags it up instead. That said it does slow you down because you have to go over the same spot a few times and the head doesn’t glide great on thicker cushions.
Biggest thing I noticed is you have to empty it more often when you use the brush. The hair and lint ball up fast and once the bin gets half full the suction drops off. When it was new I thought it was weaker than expected until I realized I’d been letting the bin fill up.
Not sure how long the bristles hold up since mine already look a bit bent, but for now it’s the better option on fabric.

techguy22ParticipantI’d stick with the brush on cushions. The crevice tool is for seams and crumbs, not pulling hair out of fabric. That said, the brush does need a few passes to really get the stuff that’s stuck down.

Ben KerrMemberSofa cushions are kind of a pain with these small vacs either way. I’d try the brush on a low suction setting if yours has one, sometimes too much pull just drags the fabric. Not sure the slim nozzle would do much better on hair that’s woven in.

MemberBrush is overrated for cushions. Mine just pushes the hair around unless I go slow, so I use the slim nozzle and press it flat against the fabric. Works better for me.

LunaMemberThe brush has been my go to on couch cushions since I got mine. I had it about three weeks before I even tried the slim nozzle on fabric, and I never went back. It picks up way more of the fur my dog leaves behind.

MemberThe brush attachment is what you want for fabric. The crevice tool just scrapes the surface and misses half the hair woven into the cushion. I’ve messed with both and the brush pulls more out every time. Stick with it.

Paul847ParticipantI use the brush on my armchair cushions and it pulls up way more dog hair than the slim nozzle. Takes a few passes but works. Only had mine a week though so still messing with it.

MemberI actually prefer the slim nozzle on cushions, the brush just kind of skates over the fabric for me. Maybe it depends on what kind of couch you have? Mine is a tighter weave so the brush doesn’t dig in much.

MemberI’d skip the brush on cushions myself. Tried it on my cushions a few times and it mostly just stirred the hair around, so I went back to the slim nozzle and slow passes. Been about a month with mine and that combo still works better for me.

Tina MMemberI’d stick with the brush for cushions.

RiversMemberBrush is overrated for cushions, mine just fluffs the hair up.

MemberI still grab the brush for my couch most of the time, but I do short little passes instead of long sweeps, otherwise it just glides over the fabric for me too. If the cushions have that loose woven feel, the brush grabs the surface stuff fine, but anything worked in deep needs a couple extra passes. You having the same luck on the seams and corners, or is that where it gets tricky for you?

MarkD87MemberBrush works fine on mine, just go slow.

MemberI’d keep the brush on for cushions, but only if the fabric has some texture. On my old couch with a woven weave, the brush pulls hair out of the fibers way better than the slim nozzle, which mostly just skims the surface. My newer sofa has a tighter, smoother fabric and the brush does almost nothing there, so I switch back to the crevice tool for that one. So it’s less about using it right and more about the couch itself. For pet hair specifically, I go over the same spot a few times with light pressure instead of pressing down hard. Pressing down just flattens the bristles and makes it worse. If yours is grabbing more than the crevice tool, that’s a decent sign it’s working for your fabric.

MemberSofa cushions are exactly where I stopped using the brush, honestly. It kept dragging and left the fabric looking roughed up, so now I only use it on the car seats and leave the cushions to the crevice tool. Maybe my cushions are just too soft for it.

MemberThe brush attachment is the one I reach for on anything fabric. The slim nozzle is great for the actual seams and gaps where crumbs collect, but it just skates over the cushion surface for me.

MemberThe brush is the only attachment I bother with on my couch. Tried the slim nozzle first because that’s what everyone says for pet hair, and it just skated over the fabric while the hair stayed put. Swapped to the brush and it actually pulled the stuff up instead of pushing it around. I go in short strokes and press down a bit, otherwise it does that floating thing where nothing happens. The one catch is you have to empty the bin way more often because it grabs so much at once. Mine fills up after basically one cushion. Still beats chasing hair around with the other nozzle. If the brush is grabbing more for you, that’s probably just it working.

MemberThe brush just pushes crumbs around for me. I still use the slim nozzle on cushions because it actually pulls stuff out of the fabric instead of scattering it.

MemberMine worked better once the filter got a bit dirty, weirdly enough. Fresh out of the box it just skimmed the surface, but after a few uses it started grabbing the hair instead of pushing it around. Could just be my couch though.
