Tom RayMemberI’ve been using NuraFix for a few weeks and it does a decent job on light scratches. But the label says it has UV protection and corrosion resistance. I’m a bit doubtful about that part. Has anyone noticed if it actually protects the paint from sun damage? I know it’s probably just a temporary coating, but I’m curious if it’s worth reapplying for that reason alone.

JSmithParticipantUV protection from a spray like that is pretty limited. It sits on the surface and washes off after a few rains or washes, so reapplying often gets expensive. If sun damage is the real concern, a proper wax or sealant will do more for less effort.

MemberMine kept a nice beading effect for about a month on the hood, which gets the most sun. The UV part I can’t really measure, but the paint still looked even and glossy after a few weeks of parking outside. For that alone I keep reapplying it every few washes.

MemberThe UV thing is mostly marketing fluff on these spray products. I’ve tried similar stuff and the protection fades way faster than the scratch filling does, so reapplying just for sun protection feels like a waste. I’d rather use a proper wax or sealant for that.

MemberI’d say reapply it if you like the look, but don’t count on it for real sun protection. The UV claim is there so the bottle looks more useful than it is. It sits on the paint like a spray sealant, so it’s not fixing anything underneath.

MemberMine actually seemed to hold up better than expected after a month.

MemberUV claims on these sprays are basically there to sell bottles. I’ll still use NuraFix on scuffs because it does that part fine, but I’m not reapplying it for sun protection. That’s what actual wax or a sealant is for.

Dave RunnerMemberI reapplied mine before a beach trip last summer and the paint still looked decent after a week of sun. No idea if that’s the NuraFix or just my clear coat doing its job though. Either way it’s cheap enough to spray on again.

MemberUV stuff fades quick, the scratch filling is the real point.

MemberI picked up a bottle mainly for some scuffs on my old Civic and honestly the scratch side is fine for what it is. But the UV thing I mostly ignored until I noticed something random. My neighbor has the same car in the same color and parks outside all day too, and his hood has that chalky faded look while mine still looks halfway decent after a year or so. Could be a bunch of other stuff though, wax, washing habits, whatever. I’m not saying NuraFix is some sun shield. It’s probably more about how often you redo it than anything in the formula. I still give mine a quick pass every couple months just because it’s cheap and takes five minutes. If the paint fades anyway, oh well.

MemberI’d reapply it mainly if you like how it makes the paint look, not because of the UV claim. I grabbed a bottle for my car a while back and it did fine on light marks, but I never treated it like actual sun protection.

MemberThe UV part is the one claim I’d treat as a bonus at best. I used a similar spray on my old truck that sat outside all day, and after a couple months the hood still faded the same way it always did. The water beading was the only protective thing I could actually see, and that stopped after a few washes. So if you’re reapplying mainly for sun protection, I’d say you’re probably just wasting product. The scratch filling is the real reason to keep a bottle around, and even that fades. I still use it on my current car for scuffs but I don’t count on it for anything long term. If sun damage is your main concern, a real wax or sealant will do more than any of these spray scratch fillers.

MemberUV protection is honestly the last thing I’d buy it for, but I did notice something weird on my white bumper. Had a decent layer of NuraFix on it for about a month of daily parking outside and when I finally washed it, the paint under where the coating still beaded up looked slightly brighter than the rest. Could be coincidence or just dirt, no clue. So maybe the UV thing isn’t total nonsense, but I still wouldn’t reapply just for that.

MemberIf you’re reapplying just for the UV claim, I think you’re wasting your time. I’ve used it on my car for about two months and the water beading fades after a couple of washes, so a UV layer is probably long gone by then too. The scratch filling is what you’re paying for.

MemberUV additives in these spray products only really work while the film is sitting there. Once it wears off after a wash or two, you’re back to bare clear coat. So if you’re reapplying just for sun protection, you’d basically need to do it constantly.

MemberMine sits outside year round, and after about a month the water still beads fine but I can’t say the paint looks any less faded than before. I reapply mostly because it keeps the surface slick and easy to wash. The UV label is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.
4 de October de 2026 at 16:43 #14300
Ryan__TMemberI don’t buy the UV angle at all. Sun damage happens over months and years, not from a spray you buff off in a few minutes. If your clear coat is already failing, nothing in a bottle like this is going to stop that.
4 de October de 2026 at 17:30 #14304
Tom BriggsMemberMine sat outside all summer with NuraFix on the hood and I actually did notice less fading than the roof, which never got any. Two months of direct sun and the hood still looks better. That said it’s not some permanent shield, just something you keep topping up.

Linda RobinsonMemberI actually think the UV protection is doing more than people here are giving it credit for. My situation is a bit different though because my car is garage kept during the week and only sits outside at work. So it’s not getting baked all day every day like some of yours. But I’ve been using NuraFix on the roof and trunk for about three months now, reapplying maybe every third wash, and when I compare those panels to the front fenders where I never bothered, there is a visible difference in how the clear coat looks. The treated areas still have that slick feel and the color looks richer. The untreated fenders are starting to look a little chalky in direct sun. Could be coincidence I guess but I don’t think so. The hydrophobic part definitely fades faster than the UV part in my experience. Water stops beading after two or three washes but the paint still looks protected.
