If it were me, I’d just plug it in and check after an hour or so, since you’ll know pretty quick whether yours runs hot at the plug. Mine has been fine in that department. I’d honestly be more picky about which outlet I use than the plug itself.

in reply to: Hewelth UVClean cap vs regular bottle cap? #10477

I have the UVClean and I think the charging concern gets a bit overblown. I toss mine on the charger maybe once a week or so and it’s never died on me mid-day. But here’s the thing I noticed that might matter for your situation: the cap helps most when the bottle is actually closed and sitting there. If you’re the type who fills it, drinks it down, fills it again all day, the UV cycle barely gets a chance to do anything because you keep opening it. I’m a sipper, so mine sits closed for hours at a time and the auto cycle actually runs. My roommate has the same bottle and she refills constantly and hers gets that smell way faster than mine does. So I’d say think about how you actually use your bottle before deciding if the charging tradeoff is worth it. For me it is, but I’m also not washing mine as often as I probably should.

I would say just go with whatever outlet is convenient. I have one in a lower outlet in my laundry room and it seems to do its job fine down there. The coverage is small enough that I think height matters less than making sure nothing huge is sitting right in front of it. If you have a lot of clutter stacked against the walls in the basement, that’s probably the bigger thing to watch out for.

in reply to: Do you use the Glokore Therapy Mask before or after skincare? #10115

I think the whole before or after thing gets way more complicated than it needs to be. I have had mine for a few months now and I just do it on clean, dry skin exactly like you described. I do make sure my face is really clean though, because I feel like any leftover makeup or sunscreen might block the light from doing its thing. I tried doing a serum underneath once just to see what the fuss was about, but honestly it just felt like my skin was sticky when I put the mask on, so I went back to doing it first thing after cleansing.

The way I see it, the light is doing its own job at the skin level and my other stuff is doing something different. As long as I am consistent with it a few times a week, I notice a difference. I would just stick with what you are doing if it feels good and you are seeing results.

I would just treat it as a light and bring backup repellent. I use mine on the patio and it keeps the space around the lamp pretty calm, but I wouldn’t trust it to guard the whole yard. If I’m sitting a few meters off, I’m still spraying myself. It’s a great lamp, but I don’t think it’s meant to be your only line of defense.

I think a lot of it comes down to how you use it honestly. I mostly keep mine on the fan setting and save the mist for when I’m really overheating, so I’m not constantly babying it. I do wish the tank was a bit bigger though, it does feel like it runs out quicker than I expect sometimes.

I don’t have mine near the food anymore, but that’s only because my cat kept trying to nap next to it. The light doesn’t seem to bother them at all, and the occasional zap is so quick that they just look around for a second and go back to whatever they were doing. I think you’re fine leaving it where it is, the dog will probably ignore it completely after a day or two.

I got one mostly out of curiosity and honestly the coffee stain thing depends on where you are with them. My stains were pretty set in and I didn’t see them disappear, but after a few weeks I did notice the front teeth looked a bit brighter overall. It’s not magic, but it wasn’t nothing either.

I ended up grabbing a spare card anyway since I like having backups for long trips.

I’ve been using mine for ash for months and it handles it fine, just empty it before it gets too full.

in reply to: Anyone put the ODIN SafeWave EMF on a tablet yet? #8788

I’ve got one on my tablet and honestly the size thing never even crossed my mind until I saw this thread. It’s such a small little disc that it just looks like part of the design, especially if you don’t put it dead center. I stuck mine near the corner on the back and I forget it’s there half the time. My tablet has a smooth back though, so I can’t speak to the textured part, but I did put one on my kindle which has that soft rubbery feel and it’s held on fine for a few months now. No peeling or anything weird.

I think if you’re already used to seeing it on your phone, the tablet will feel no different. Just pick a spot that’s out of the way and you’re good.

in reply to: FitiBeats volume level on calls – is it just me? #8557

I actually kind of like that they’re not as loud on calls, if that makes sense? For me it feels more like a natural conversation level, like I’m not getting blasted with the other person’s voice. I’ve had other earbuds where call audio was so loud it was almost jarring when they spoke. With these I just find myself talking at a normal volume instead of feeling like I’m shouting.

I did notice it takes a second to adjust when you switch from music to a call because the difference is pretty noticeable. But once I’m a couple minutes into the conversation I don’t really think about it anymore. I mostly use them for quick calls while I’m doing stuff around the house, so maybe that’s why it doesn’t bother me. I could see it being more annoying if you’re on calls all day for work though.

in reply to: Qinux BlackOptic without an SD card, can you still use it? #8383

Mostly you’re fine without one, it’ll still show you everything on the screen and work for your walks. That said, I found mine really easy to accidentally hit the capture button on when I’m just carrying it around. You won’t lose any viewing ability, but you might end up with a bunch of “saved” files that go nowhere until you do pop a card in.

I actually have one for my shepherd and the vibration mode does help with pulling, but it took a few walks for her to connect it with the behavior. It’s not magic, you still have to be consistent with when you trigger it. The sound mode does nothing for her though, she just ignores it completely.

If you’re mostly sitting still, it’s totally fine, but I wouldn’t expect it to hold up during any real movement.

in reply to: Qinux Zindoggo safe zone vs old fence setting, how exact is it? #7957

I think part of it comes down to where you put the fence. In open areas mine seems to ping pretty close to the line, but near the house or trees it gets a bit fuzzy and I’ll get the alert a little after he’s already crossed. It’s never been so far off that I couldn’t figure out where he went though.

in reply to: Qinux PolarBreeze wall mount actually holds? #7181

I stuck mine up with the adhesive hooks about two months ago and it’s still hanging there fine. I did wipe the wall down first with a damp cloth and let it dry completely before pressing it on. The only thing I’d say is I made sure to give it a good firm press for a few seconds. It’s light enough that I don’t really worry about it.

in reply to: Dustaclean on car cup holders, or is that pushing it? #7170

I have to disagree with the people saying it won’t fit. I keep mine in the glove box specifically for this and it does a great job on my cup holders. The slim nozzle gets down in there without any issue for me, even with the little grippy things at the bottom. I just use it after my kids leave their snack messes everywhere.

I’d just plug it in while you get everything else set up. For me it wasn’t completely dead out of the box, but I didn’t want to risk starting a cycle and having it die halfway through. A little top up while I washed the bottle and filled it worked fine, then I was good to go.

I actually think people undersell how well these things do in garages. Mine has been plugged into an outlet in my garage for over a year now, and it’s been working fine the whole time. The cold never seemed to bother it, even when we had that rough stretch of freezing temps last winter. I didn’t notice any change in how often I’d see mouse droppings, which was basically never after the first couple of weeks.

The one thing that surprised me is that I think it works even better out there because there’s usually less furniture and clutter blocking the soundwaves than in a cluttered bedroom or living room. I had a friend who used one in a storage room packed with boxes and said it didn’t do much, but that’s kind of on the setup, not the device itself. As long as you’ve got an outlet somewhere near where the mice are coming in, I’d say go for it.

I dropped my favorite flip flop once and it showed up a month later, so there’s definitely hope.

That settles it then, I’ll just shut the door and use the remote from the hallway. I figured I was overthinking it, but I’d rather feel a little silly asking than have that nagging worry in the back of my head every time I use it. Looking forward to seeing if it makes a difference in the bathroom.

in reply to: Coolizi Coolzy heating mode smell anything? #6226

I kind of expected that smell honestly. Most things with a heating element do that when they first get used, like a brand new space heater. It never really bothered me though, I just figured it was part of the deal. I wouldn’t worry about it unless it sticks around for a week or so.
