I think it should be fine. I’ve used mine in a hotel once with an older TV and it worked after a bit of fiddling with the input settings. Not totally sure about really old ports though, maybe check if the TV supports HDCP or something like that.
I think people overthink these things. It’s basically a fan with a little water tank inside, not some complicated machine that needs breaks. I’d just let it run.
Mine does that too, it’s just the pump sucking air when the water gets low. You don’t have to refill it every few hours though, just top it off when the noise starts and you’re good.
I think it handles medium speed pretty well for a few hours at a time. I’ve used mine on a couple of flights and it lasted through most of a movie without needing a charge. Not totally sure about exact numbers but it’s never died on me during a work session.
I think the app thing might be a phone compatibility issue more than the drone itself. Mine was acting up until I closed some background apps and it was fine after that. Not a huge deal for me since I mostly just fly it around parks when I’m traveling.
Mine seems to drain quicker than I expected too when the IR is on. I mostly use it for quick looks on night walks and it holds up fine for that. Hard to tell if it’s normal or not, I kind of figured that’s just how these things go.
I used them on a layover once and it worked well enough for basic stuff at a cafe. Not super fast, but I got by. I’d probably still grab a phrasebook as a backup though, just to be safe.
I wouldn’t bother with the TV output, it’s more hassle than it’s worth for me. I pretty much only use it on planes and I just keep the brightness low, battery lasts long enough for a couple flights easy.
Not a doctor, but those pauses and gasps would make me want it checked rather than shrugged off. I’d probably ask them to see a GP and mention possible sleep apnea so they can decide on a sleep study if needed. White noise helps you, but it won’t fix whatever’s causing the gasps.
15 minutes plugged in is easy to slot into a layover or after a long travel day, so the cord didn’t bother me either. The heat and vibration definitely make it more tempting to actually use instead of letting it sit in a corner.
Honestly the need to stay plugged in didn’t bother me much. Fifteen minutes plugged in and you’re finished, so not a dealbreaker.
Kept mine for the fast cleanup and light weight, so it’s handy for apartment cooks or people who travel and use shared kitchens. Don’t expect the soft wood feel, it’s louder and firmer but fine if low-maintenance is your priority.
I think the “all-day battery” bit sounds a bit optimistic, maybe heavy translation use will eat into it faster than they claim. Not totally sure about offline reliability in noisy spots either.
I picked one up to touch up the pole saw chain I use for pruning and it’s been handy. I think the clamp holds steady while you file, and after a couple teeth you get the hang of the guide. Not as flawless as a shop grinder but good enough for regular home use.
