I keep seeing the Qinux Gravizer listed for glass but I’m not sure how well it actually works. Has anyone tried it on a glass surface without it skipping or just scratching instead of engraving? I don’t want to ruin a mug or something.

I used mine on a couple of glass beer mugs and it worked fine for me. No skipping or scratching, just took it slow and used the diamond tip. You definitely need a steady hand but it’s not as hard as people make it sound.

I’d be more worried about the user than the tool if it skips or scratches. Going too fast or pressing too hard is probably the issue, not the engraver itself.

I gave it a shot on a glass photo frame I didn’t care about too much, and it came out alright. I just kept the speed steady and didn’t push down hard, no scratches or anything. Feels like it’s more about getting a feel for it than the tool itself.

Oh I’ve been wondering the same thing actually. I figure if you just go slow and don’t press down like you’re trying to carve a rock, it probably works fine on glass. Might grab one to try on a plain vase sometime.

Alright, I’ve read enough replies. Sounds like it works fine if you don’t go at it like a gorilla. I’ll probably just grab a cheap glass first to test it and stop overthinking it.

Glass just needs a slower hand, the tip does most of the work.
