Owen21MemberI’m thinking about getting an Epicooler for the summer. I already have AC at home, but I’m curious whether the difference in electricity usage is really that noticeable. Has anyone here used both? Did you see any real savings on your power bill?

northshoreParticipantI got one last summer and honestly I’m still not totally sure if it’s saving me much on the bill. It feels cooler in the room but I never really tracked the numbers closely.

Ryan__TMemberYeah, for sure. It uses a lot less electricity than an AC. Just don’t expect the same level of cooling. If you just want a bit of cool air without running the AC all day, it’s a good option.

StanMemberI’ve taken mine on a couple of trips and used it in our vacation home instead of cranking the AC. I haven’t done any exact calculations, but it felt way less wasteful to run it all night.

SarahMParticipantI’ve had mine for a few weeks now and the power bill did seem a little lower. Not a huge difference, but enough that I noticed.

LunaMemberI got mine a couple months ago and honestly I just use it in the bedroom instead of the AC at night. Not sure about exact numbers but the room feels fine and I figure it’s gotta be cheaper than running the big unit all night. Works for me.

Ben KerrMemberI usually just run mine in the home office during the day instead of the AC. Hard to say about the bill, but it’s quieter, which I like.

Emma ReadsMemberI run mine in the living room during the day and honestly haven’t paid close enough attention to the bill to say for sure. I do notice it uses way less power just from how often the compressor kicks on compared to my AC though. Hard to beat that when it’s just me and I don’t need the whole house freezing.

Jenna LeeMemberI mean, it’s a swamp cooler basically. It’s gonna use way less power than an AC, but it’s also not gonna cool the same way. I wouldn’t overthink it too much.

MemberThe power difference is there, sure. I just wouldn’t expect it to replace an AC for whole house cooling. I mostly use mine to take the edge off in one room and it does that fine without killing the bill.

Owen21MemberAlright, thanks for the replies. Sounds like it’s not gonna replace the AC, but the power savings might be real enough if you use it smart. I’ll probably grab one and just see how it goes.
