Got the Qinux BlackOptic last week. Night vision works fine in total darkness, which is what I needed. But the battery seems to drop pretty fast even with the IR set to medium. Is that normal for this thing or did I get a dud?

Alright, thanks for the replies. Sounds like it’s just how this thing runs with the IR on, not a defect. I’ll just plan for shorter sessions or carry a backup battery. Good enough for what I need.

I haven’t really tested mine with the IR on for long stretches, mostly just short bursts to spot things. But I will say the battery life seems decent when I’m just using it as a regular monocular during the day. Might be worth checking if you’re leaving the screen on too long between uses.

That’s just how it goes with these digital units. The IR eats power no matter what setting you pick.
