I’ve taken mine to a couple of outdoor markets and a construction-adjacent street and it really depends on the person speaking. If they’re facing you and speaking at a normal pace, it does fine. But the second someone talks sideways or mumbles a bit, it kind of gives up. I don’t think it’s the glasses being bad, more that they need a fairly clean signal to work with.
One thing I noticed is that my own voice gets picked up way better than the other person’s when there’s noise around. So if I’m the one translating, it’s smooth. When I’m relying on the other person to speak clearly into the open mic, that’s when I have to lean closer or ask them to repeat. Not a dealbreaker, but I’d say don’t expect it to work like a professional interpreter in a loud room.
Funny how these things vary from person to person. Mine is the opposite of what you’re describing. I have to be pretty deliberate with my arm movement for it to register anything. If I’m just walking around the house doing normal stuff, it hardly moves. So I’m over here trying to swing my arms more when I’m doing chores just to get some credit for moving around.
I run mine on low with the ice chamber filled and it does make a noticeable difference in my room. The air feels less stuffy and I wake up without that dry throat feeling. Placement matters a bit, I keep it on the nightstand angled toward the bed rather than across the room.
I think you can press the button right away if you want, but I would probably plug it in first anyway. Mine arrived with a little bit of charge, enough to run one cycle, but I figured it was better to just top it off while I was rinsing the bottle and filling it for the first time. It didn’t take long at all, maybe an hour and a half or so while I was doing other stuff around the house.
The thing is, the battery isn’t like a phone where you notice it slowly draining. It just kind of stops working when it’s out, which is annoying if you’re out somewhere and forgot to charge it. I’ve gotten into the habit of plugging it in every few days just so I don’t have to think about it. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind if you plan on using it daily.
I noticed mine seemed less effective after I used it on a pretty dirty panel without washing the cloth first. Gave it a quick rinse with soap and water, let it dry, and it was back to pulling scratches out like before. So if yours slows down, maybe try cleaning it before you assume it’s dead.
Honestly, it’s probably nothing to stress over. A little click when it shuts off is just the thing doing its job.
I think 10 hours is still pretty decent for camping, honestly. I usually just charge it when I’m back at the car anyway, so it’s never been a big deal for me.
Honestly I haven’t run into that situation much myself, mostly just use it for one language at a time. Sounds like it does okay for most people though.
I wouldn’t overthink it. Mine needed a little extra pressure at first too, but after a few sharpenings it sort of settled in and felt more natural. As long as the chain is cutting better after you use it, it’s probably doing its job.
I mostly got it for the scratches too, but I did notice the water beading stays decent for a while. It definitely fades a bit after a few washes, but it doesn’t just disappear completely right away. Good enough for what it is.
I think it only does full hours but honestly that’s fine for me. I mostly just set it before bed and don’t really need half hour settings anyway. Works good enough for what it is.
I’m not totally sure the solar panel is really meant to be the main power source honestly. I think it’s more of a backup to keep the battery topped up, so if you’re only getting a few hours of direct sun it should probably be fine. The battery itself seems to hold a charge pretty well from what I’ve seen.
Pretty sure the Guardality card does the heavy lifting on its own, so the passport cover is just extra at that point. I wouldn’t worry about stacking them causing any issues though, it’s not like they cancel each other out or anything. I’ve got mine in a regular wallet slot and never bothered with a cover.
I pretty much just leave mine on the wide setting. The concentrated stream feels like it’s asking for trouble if you accidentally get too close.
I think it’s probably not as big a deal as it seems. The foam is flexible enough that it just kind of folds into whatever spot you wedge it in. I wouldn’t overthink it.

I’ve got one and honestly it’s been fine for me. The angle guide hasn’t slipped or anything, just locks in and does its thing. I think people overthink it sometimes for basic sharpening.
I took mine out last weekend and there was a bit of a gust now and then, but it didn’t really go anywhere. I just used the ropes and it stayed up fine, though I didn’t have it in anything super strong or anything. I think as long as you get it tied down decently you should be okay.
I just keep mine on my desk and it’s fine for those days when you don’t want to run the big AC just for one room. It’s definitely not cooling the whole space but if you’re sitting right there working it does feel noticeably nicer than a regular fan.

I wouldn’t overthink it too much. The case charges them up pretty quick so even if you drain them faster with translation, you’re not stuck waiting long. I’d just toss the case in your bag and not worry about it.
Honestly, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I’ve just been using a standard class 10 card in mine and it’s been totally fine for snorkeling clips. You could probably grab any decent one from a shop and not overthink it.
I think some people overthink the whole “supplemental” label. For a 120 sq ft room, 800 watts is plenty if you just want it less chilly in there. I wouldn’t worry too much about it being perfect for the whole space.
