I’m thinking about getting the Qinux BlastVul but I don’t always have a garden hose nearby. Does it actually pick up water from a bucket without losing much pressure? I’d mostly use it for quick car washes and cleaning around the yard, so I’m curious if that setup works okay.

I’ve used mine with a bucket a bunch of times when I’m too lazy to drag the hose out. It does pull from the bucket fine, but I won’t lie, you can tell the pressure drops a little compared to when it’s hooked up to the hose. Still enough for a quick rinse or getting suds off the car though. I just make sure the filter stays fully submerged or it sucks air and sputters.

Bucket setup works, but don’t expect the same punch as a hose. It’ll pull water fine, just keep the intake submerged or you’ll suck air and lose pressure quick. For a quick car rinse it’s fine, but you’ll probably stop to refill more often than you’d like.

I’m not gonna pretend I’ve done a full scientific test with it, but I have used mine with a plastic bucket more times than I’d like to admit. The self-suction thing does work, like it will pull the water up, but the flow feels a bit lazier than when I hook it up to a proper hose. Still, for a quick car rinse or spraying down some patio furniture, it’s totally fine. I think people expect it to hit like a full-size pressure washer and that’s just not what this is.

The one thing I noticed is that you sort of have to manage the bucket placement a bit. If the bucket is sitting too low or the water level gets low, the spray gets a little sputtery. I just top the bucket off or tilt it a bit and it’s fine. I wouldn’t want to wash a whole muddy truck with just a bucket, but for a normal car that’s just dusty or has some bird droppings, it gets the job done. I’ve also used it just to wet down some plants and rinse off the balcony, and honestly it’s nice not to have to drag the hose around for that stuff.

I say go for it if you’re not expecting heavy duty power. It’s more about convenience than raw strength. You’re not gonna be blasting off years of grime, but for quick maintenance it’s pretty handy.

I’ve had the opposite experience from some people here, I guess. I tried using mine with a bucket a few times and honestly it was more hassle than it was worth for me. The first time I set it up, I figured it would be fine since the whole selling point is that it can pull from standing water. I think part of my problem was the bucket itself. I was using one of those smaller round ones, not a big flat-bottomed container, so the water level dropped fast and the intake started sucking air pretty quickly. I ended up having to top it off halfway through washing my wheels, which got annoying. I can see it working better if you have a big bucket or maybe one of those tall utility tubs, but with a regular household bucket I just didn’t enjoy it.

For me, the whole reason to grab this thing is the portability, and if I’m already dragging a bucket around, I might as well just use a regular hose when I can. I still use it for stuff like cleaning the trash cans or the patio furniture where I’m close to a spigot, but for the car I’ll just wait until I can park near the hose. It’s not a bad tool, but the bucket setup didn’t click for me the way it seems to for others.
