Been using the Qinux Talkbuds for calls on the street and people keep saying they hear everything around me. Is there a setting in the app to fix that or is it just how these earbuds are?

I’m guessing it’s just how they are. I mostly use mine indoors for calls and even then people mention some extra room noise coming through. I’d like an app setting to tone it down, but I haven’t found one that does much for calls. Street use would probably be worse for sure.

I wouldnt hold my breath for an app setting to fix that. These are translator earbuds first and regular earbuds second. The mic is tuned for picking up your voice clearly so the translation software works, which means it grabs everything else around you too.

I took calls with mine on a bus once and stopped bothering after that. People could hear the engine and chatter like I wasnt even using a headset. Indoors with the TV off its passable, but the second theres any kind of ambient noise you might as well be on speakerphone.

Could be different if you got lucky with a firmware update, but I wouldnt count on it. If you bought them for translation on trips, fine, they do that job. If you wanted solid call quality in loud spots, you picked the wrong tool. I just use a cheap wired headset when I know Ill be outside and need to talk.

That’s odd, mine have been pretty solid on calls so far. I’ve taken them on a few busier walks and nobody has complained about noise, so maybe yours are picking up something specific or you got a dud pair.

Weird, mine has been the opposite. I’ve worn them around town a bunch and nobody on calls has ever mentioned hearing traffic or anything. Maybe I got lucky with a good pair, or the noise reduction kicks in better for some people. I haven’t touched any mic settings in the app either.

I think it might just come down to where you wear them or how they fit. I’ve noticed mine pick up more noise when they’re not seated snugly in my ears. Haven’t found any mic setting in the app that changes it either, so I just try to talk a bit closer to the phone when I’m outside.

Interesting, because mine have actually been fine in that regard. I’ve taken a few calls walking past a construction site and the other person only mentioned it once, briefly. I do notice the mics seem more sensitive when the earbuds aren’t sitting perfectly in my ears, so maybe it’s a fit thing rather than a design flaw.

Mine pick up plenty of street noise too. I wouldn’t expect an app update to change how the mics are built.

Mine do the same thing when I’m calling from anywhere with even a little traffic. I tried moving the mic closer to my mouth but that just made it worse. I think it’s the way the mic is tuned for translation, not calls. I wouldn’t count on an app update changing the hardware behavior.

Mine do the same when I’m near a road, but I found it gets way better if I switch the call to the other earbud, the left one seems to handle noise differently than the right for me. Not sure if that’s a real thing or just my pair, but worth trying before you give up on them.

Kinda surprised by this thread honestly. I was looking at these for the translation feature mainly, but I tested them for regular calls too before deciding. My experience was the opposite of what you’re describing, but I think it might have something to do with the noise reduction setting in the app. There’s a toggle in there for call environment or something like that. I flipped it to “outdoor” mode and noticed a pretty clear difference on my end during a test call.

I don’t know if that actually changes what the other person hears though, since I couldn’t exactly hear myself from their side. I just know the person I called said it sounded cleaner after I switched it. Might be worth digging around in the app settings more, since it’s easy to miss that menu. If it’s not there then yeah, probably just the mic design.

Passing buses drown me out too, but mine handle it fine indoors.

I’d try them somewhere quiet first before you judge, street calls are rough on most earbuds.
