Hey, I’m thinking about getting the Hewelth UVClean but I’m wondering about the setup. Does it come with some charge already, or do I need to plug it in for a while before I can use the sterilizing function? I just want to know if I can fill it up and press the button right out of the box, or if there’s a waiting period. Thanks!

I got mine a couple months ago and it definitely does not come fully charged. I unpacked it, plugged it in for a couple hours, and then it was good to go. You can probably use it a little right away, but I didn’t chance it and just waited. It’s not a huge deal, just do the first charge before you actually need it.

It didn’t come with much charge for me. I had to leave it plugged in for a bit before the UV cycle would even start. It wasn’t a huge deal, but don’t expect to use it immediately after unboxing.

It’s a USB charge, so it’s not like a filter that needs prepping. Just give it a quick top-up while you unpack, and you’re good.

I’d just plug it in while you get everything else set up. For me it wasn’t completely dead out of the box, but I didn’t want to risk starting a cycle and having it die halfway through. A little top up while I washed the bottle and filled it worked fine, then I was good to go.

Mine had a little charge when I opened it, just enough to run one cycle. I still plugged it in while I was cleaning the bottle and getting it ready, so by the time I actually wanted to use it, it was topped off. Probably not a bad habit to get into anyway.

I wouldn’t count on it being ready to go straight away. Mine had a tiny bit of power but not enough to feel reliable, so I just left it charging while I washed the bottle and filled it. It wasn’t a long wait, but I wouldn’t expect to unbox it and have a full battery.

I’d just charge it before messing with it. Even if it has some juice out of the box, you don’t want it dying halfway through a cycle when you’re actually relying on it. Plugging it in while you read the manual or wash the bottle once takes no extra effort.

I think you can press the button right away if you want, but I would probably plug it in first anyway. It didn’t take long at all, maybe an hour and a half or so while I was doing other stuff around the house.

The thing is, the battery isn’t like a phone where you notice it slowly draining. It just kind of stops working when it’s out, which is annoying if you’re out somewhere and forgot to charge it. I’ve gotten into the habit of plugging it in every few days just so I don’t have to think about it. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind if you plan on using it daily.

I wouldn’t stress about the first charge being perfect. Get it to full once, use it for a while, and you’ll figure out your own rhythm. But if you’re the type who loses chargers or forgets to plug things in, this might annoy you more than it helps. It’s a good bottle with a party trick, not a set it and forget it solution.

I never charged mine before using it and it worked fine for the first cycle. That said, the battery did die quicker than I expected that first day, so I ended up plugging it in sooner than I planned. Probably smart to give it a little juice while you set it up, but it won’t be a huge issue if you don’t.
