I’ve been wearing the Aptofit for a few days and the step count seems off compared to my old band. I know they’re never exact, but this one feels like it’s counting extra steps when I’m just moving around the house. Anyone else notice that, or is it just me?

Mine actually does the opposite, it seems to undercount when I’m doing stuff around the house. I’ll be cleaning for an hour and check it, and it barely registered anything. My old band would have given me way more credit for that lol. I think these things just have different sensitivities.

I had the same thing happen with mine. It would rack up steps just from me sitting at my desk and moving my arm around to grab stuff. My old band was way more conservative with that. I stopped comparing them after a few days and just picked one to trust, otherwise it drives you crazy.

I think a lot of it comes down to what you’re used to, honestly. My old band was pretty stingy with steps, so when I switched over to the Aptofit I felt like I was suddenly hitting my goal way too early in the day. It took me a bit to get used to seeing those numbers jump around just from folding laundry or reaching for stuff on the top shelf.

The thing that got me was how it handles slower movements. I walk my dog at a pretty relaxed pace and the old band would barely register that as exercise, but this one seems to pick up every little shuffle. So yeah, I do think it’s more sensitive, but I actually prefer that. I’d rather it overcount a little than miss the actual walking I’m doing. It makes the whole thing feel more responsive to me, even if the numbers are a bit inflated compared to what I used to see.

One thing I will say though is that I don’t really use it for the exact numbers. I just like seeing the general trend and making sure I’m moving more than I was the day before. As long as it’s consistent with itself, I don’t mind if it doesn’t match my old band exactly. It’s more of a nudge for me than a precise measurement.

I noticed the same thing when I switched over. It definitely feels like it picks up more movement than my old one did, especially when I’m just doing everyday stuff like cooking or tidying up.

I get why people think it overcounts, but mine is the total opposite. It barely registers steps unless I’m actually walking with some purpose. Puttering around the kitchen or carrying laundry does nothing on mine. Odd how they seem to vary so much from unit to unit.

Mine counts steps when I’m just sitting on the couch scrolling. My old band never did that. So yeah, it’s not just you. These things are all over the place anyway.

It’s not just you. Mine does the same thing, I’ll be moving laundry around or reaching for stuff and it piles up steps like I went for a walk. I just use it as a general guide at this point and don’t take the exact number too seriously.

Step counting on these things is a rough estimate at best. Mine has days where it feels generous and other days where it barely moves unless I’m actually walking outside. I wouldn’t put too much stock in the exact number, just use it for a general idea.

Hard to compare without having them side by side, honestly.

Mine actually undercounts unless my arms are swinging, so I feel like I’m getting cheated.

Funny how these things vary from person to person. Mine is the opposite of what you’re describing. I have to be pretty deliberate with my arm movement for it to register anything. If I’m just walking around the house doing normal stuff, it hardly moves. So I’m over here trying to swing my arms more when I’m doing chores just to get some credit for moving around.

I never really trust step counts on any of these bands to be perfectly accurate. I mainly use mine to see if I’ve been a total couch potato that day, so a few extra steps from doing dishes or folding clothes doesn’t bother me much. It’s just a ballpark number as far as I’m concerned.

I’ve had mine for about a month now and I mostly use it to see if I’ve been lazy or not. It definitely adds a few extra steps when I’m just puttering around the kitchen, but I just treat it as a rough guide. My old band was the opposite, so I’ve stopped comparing them entirely.

Different sensor, different algorithm, same story. These things all use arm swing and guesswork. My old one undercounted, this one overcounts. At this point I just use it as a rough gauge and don’t take the number seriously.

I think if it’s consistently overcounting you’ll probably get used to it eventually, but I get why it bugs you. I’d just wear it for a week or two and see if the totals are still way out of whack compared to before. If they are, I’d probably just reset it and start fresh.

Wearing it while pushing a suitcase or typing messes with the count more than my old one did.

I noticed the same thing with mine. It seems to pick up a lot of movement when I’m just reaching for things or doing simple chores. I don’t expect it to be perfect, but it does make me question how much of the daily total is real walking.
