I put a couple PestVault pouches in my garage about three weeks ago. The scent is pretty much gone now. The package says 2 to 4 weeks, but I figured the cooler weather might stretch it a bit. Anyone else notice they fade faster in certain spots? Not a huge deal, just wondering if I should swap them out sooner.

Mine lasted about a week and a half in the garage before I could barely smell anything. I remember checking it around day ten and thinking it was already done. The package said 2 to 4 weeks so I figured I had more time, but nope.

I think the garage just eats them faster than other spots. I had one in a closet inside the house that hung in there for close to three weeks, so it’s not like the product is bad, it’s just that the garage is a different beast. Maybe it’s the temperature swings or the fact that the door opens and closes all day. Not sure exactly, but that’s what I noticed.

Three weeks sounds about right for a garage honestly. Once the scent fades I don’t think it’s doing much of anything anymore, since that smell is the whole point. I usually just swap mine out when I stop smelling it, even if the calendar says it should still be good. No point leaving a dead pouch sitting there.

I still like them for what they are though. They’re cheap and easy and I haven’t seen any mice since I started using them, so I’ll keep buying. Just don’t expect the full four weeks if it’s sitting in a hot or drafty garage.

Mine actually held up fine in my garage until around the 3 week mark, then it dropped off pretty quick after that. I think the scent fading is just how you know it’s done. For the price I just swap them when I can barely smell them anymore.

I had a different experience in my shed, which is a bit drafty and stays warmer than a garage. The pouches actually kept their smell for a solid month in there. I checked them weekly because I was curious, and around week four they started losing that sharp scent. By week five they were pretty much done. What surprised me was that the ones I put in a closed cabinet lasted even longer, maybe five or six weeks before I noticed any drop off. So I think airflow and how enclosed the spot is matters more than just temperature. A garage with a door opening and closing all day probably pulls the scent out faster than a closed cabinet. I don’t swap on a strict schedule anymore. I just go by the smell. If I walk past and can’t catch it, I replace them. That’s been working fine for me.

Three weeks in a garage isn’t really out of line with the 2 to 4 week range, especially if it’s been sitting out in the open. I’d just swap them when the smell drops instead of trying to stretch it.

Mine did the same thing in my garage, and it wasn’t even that warm yet. I got maybe two and a half weeks before I couldn’t pick up the scent at all. I just started marking the date on mine so I stop guessing when to swap them.

Mine actually lasted longer in the garage than I expected, which seems to go against what everyone else is saying. I put one behind some storage bins in late fall and it kept a noticeable smell for close to five weeks. It did get weaker after the first couple weeks but it never fully disappeared the way you’re describing. The only thing I can figure is placement makes a big difference. Mine was tucked in a corner where air barely moves, so maybe the scent just hangs around longer in spots like that. If yours is out in the open or near a drafty door, three weeks might just be what you get. I’d say if the smell is gone, swap it, but I wouldn’t assume they all fade at the same speed.

I noticed mine seem to fade faster when they’re sitting right on the concrete floor versus up on a shelf. Not sure if it’s the cold coming up through the slab or what, but the ones I raised up definitely held their scent longer for me.

I used two in my garage last fall and they lasted about three weeks before I stopped noticing them. The one I put in the pantry is a different story though, that one hung in there for close to a month. So I don’t think it’s really about the garage being cooler or warmer, it’s more about how much open air is moving around. My garage has a drafty side door and I’m pretty sure that’s what killed the scent faster. The pantry is closed up so the smell just sits there. If yours is in a spot with any kind of breeze or airflow, I’d just plan on swapping closer to the three week mark instead of waiting for the full four.

Cooler weather didn’t do mine any favors either. I had one in the garage last winter and it was done closer to two and a half weeks. The cold seems to kill the scent faster than heat in my case.

Mine were toast around the three week mark too, so I figured that was just how it goes. Still cheaper than calling someone out every time. I’ll probably just keep swapping them and see.
