I have mine on a small table next to my couch and it’s been fine for a few months. It doesn’t really need to be mounted unless you want it out of the way.

Mine screwed on fine but I did have to hold the arm steady because it moved a bit when I twisted the new head on. That was the only hiccup. It still went on without any adapter in the end.
Mine actually got worse after the first couple weeks, not better. First few charges seemed fine and then it started dropping fast enough that I stopped bothering to keep track. I thought it was just me using it more, but I was running it about the same amount, so who knows. I ended up just charging it every other night now instead of waiting for it to die, mostly so it doesn’t quit in the middle of something. Not saying that’s normal, just what happened with mine.
I gave one a shot last season after my metal blade kept throwing rocks through a window. For normal yard grass and overgrown patches it does the job fine, feels a bit different at first but you get used to it. The wire strands do wear down faster than I expected though, so it’s not like you buy it once and forget about it.
I just put them near entry points and corners rather than counting per room. One pouch tends to go dead quiet in a bigger open area, so I’d add another if your kitchen stretches out.
Mine lives in a backpack side pocket most of the time, not even a wallet, and honestly the accuracy is all over the place. Sometimes it shows the right building, sometimes it thinks I left it at a coffee shop three blocks away. I’ve learned to treat it more like a “last known area” thing than a precise dot on a map.
The one time I actually needed it, my bag was in a friend’s car and Find My showed it at their house, which was close enough to figure it out. But if you’re expecting to be like, “oh it’s under the seat on the left side,” that’s not really how it works. It’s more of a neighborhood-level location for me.
For a wallet specifically, I’d just keep your expectations low. If it’s buried in a purse or a jacket pocket, the ping can lag pretty noticeably. It’s fine for knowing you left it somewhere, but not for pinpointing the exact shelf it’s sitting on. I’d still grab one if you misplace things often, just don’t rely on it being super precise.
Mine runs noticeably warm if I leave it on for a couple of days straight. Not hot, but warm enough that I noticed it when I unplugged it to move it to another TV. It still works fine, but I wouldn’t call it “cool” by any stretch.
I think a lot of that depends on the color of the tablet honestly. Mine is dark so the sticker just sort of disappears into it. I’d probably be more annoyed if I had a lighter colored device. As for textured backs, I haven’t had an issue, but I also didn’t put mine directly on the tablet.
Appreciate all the input on this. Sounds like it’ll handle the cafe fine as long as I do my part and don’t mumble into my coffee. I’ll give it a try next week and see how it goes.
Mine does the same thing, the short beeps come first and then the full alarm. I actually checked the manual when I first noticed it because I thought something was off, but it’s just how it warns you. The old detector I had before never did that, so it took a bit to get used to.
I wouldn’t count on it being your main repellent. I had mine out one evening and the bugs were definitely not swarming around the light, but I could still hear mosquitoes buzzing near my ears. It’s a nice extra, but I’d bring the spray for sure.
I’ve only used mine on three different chains so far, but two of them were different pitches and it handled both without any fuss. The one that surprised me was a smaller chain I grabbed for a little electric saw, I figured it would be too finicky but it clamped up fine and the angle held steady while I ran the file through.
I think people overthink the pitch thing a bit. As long as the tooth sits in the guide properly and the clamp doesn’t wobble, it seems to do the job. I’m not running anything exotic though, just the usual sizes you’d find at a hardware store. If you’re dealing with some oddball chain, that might be where it gets tricky, but for normal saws it’s been solid for me.
Battery life on these things is so dependent on little habits. I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong. I tend to turn the camera off between shots rather than leaving it in standby, and that seems to make a bigger difference than the resolution setting.
I just angle mine toward the general area where the animals come in and leave it at that. I don’t think it’s super sensitive about direction, but I do try to keep the front clear of tall grass. Seems to work okay either way.
I’d plug it in before using it. Even if it has some charge out of the box, you don’t know how long it sat in the warehouse. Took mine maybe an hour and a half on the USB-C cable before it was full, so it’s not a huge wait.
Kind of amazing how fast stuff disappears in that loose sand. I once dropped my wallet on a dry part of the beach and didn’t notice until the next day. Went back and found it half-buried just from the wind blowing sand around overnight. So yeah, things definitely shift and sink way quicker than you’d think.
I think it’s fine for a 6-year-old, but the guard only helps if they stay still. The nails come out smooth, which is nice, but it’s not something you can rush through.
Dusty smell is pretty common on a lot of these combo units the first time you hit the heat. I think it’s just whatever settled on the heating element during shipping or while it was sitting in cooling mode. Mine did that too, but it faded after a few uses.
I wouldn’t worry about it unless it gets worse or starts smelling like burning plastic. That would be a different story. The dusty thing is usually just the initial burn-off. Give it another couple of cycles and see if it clears up. If it lingers after a week, maybe check the filter or give the vents a quick wipe, but I’d bet it goes away on its own.
I’ve had mine for about three weeks now and I only charge it every few days even with the safe zone on. Seems to settle in after the first couple of charges.
Mine just overwrites the old clips when the card fills up. I haven’t formatted the card once in the time I’ve had it and it’s been fine so far.
