Thinking about getting a Flixy for the bedroom TV, but I’m wondering about leaving it plugged in constantly. Anyone here keep it on 24/7 without issues? Not sure if it’s something I should worry about or if it’s fine.

Had mine plugged in for about eight months now. It sits behind the living room TV and basically never gets unplugged. The stick itself stays cool to the touch whenever I bother to check it, which isn’t often. The USB power adapter gets slightly warm but nothing that makes me think twice about it.

The only thing I noticed after a few months is that the remote takes a second longer to wake it up from the idle screen. Not a big deal, just a tiny delay. I figured that was more about the software than the hardware getting cooked. I’ve had worse streaming boxes that ran hot enough to feel through the HDMI port, and this one doesn’t do that.

I did unplug it once to take it on a trip and it booted up fine after that. No weird behavior, no reset needed. It just acted like normal.

Honestly, it’s a cheap enough device that I’m not losing sleep over it. If it dies in two years from staying plugged in, I’ll just buy another one. They’re not expensive enough to baby. I’d say plug it in, forget about it, and only worry if you notice it actually getting hot when you touch it. That’s been my experience anyway.

I keep mine in the bedroom and it’s been plugged in since I got it months ago. Never felt warm enough to even notice. The TV being off basically means it’s just sitting there doing nothing. I don’t see the point in unplugging something that draws that little power.

I think it’s one of those things where you just get used to it. Mine has been in the same HDMI port for a while now, and I never really think about it until I need to change something. The only time I noticed it feeling a bit warm was right after I’d been watching something for a few hours, but even then it wasn’t anything that made me want to unplug it. I guess with these little sticks, some heat is just normal since they’re so small. Mine has been plugged in for about four months now and the only time I even think about it is when I notice it’s slightly warm to the touch. Never hot, just warm. I wouldn’t call it a problem but I also wouldn’t say it’s totally cool either.

Mine gets left plugged in on a secondary TV that only gets used a few times a week. It’s been like that for maybe five months now and the stick doesn’t get any warmer than a phone that’s been charging. I wouldn’t lose sleep over it.

Honestly, I feel like people overthink this stuff. These little sticks are designed to just sit there. It’s not like it’s a laptop that needs to breathe or something. As long as it’s not getting hot enough to feel uncomfortable when you touch it, it’s fine. I’d be more worried about the TV’s USB port giving out than the Flixy itself. Mine has been rock solid, so I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s just one of those things where it either works or it doesn’t, and mine works.

Mine’s been plugged in since I got it and I honestly forget it’s there most of the time. It runs a bit warm if I touch it, but no different from any other streaming stick I’ve had. For a bedroom TV that gets daily use, it’s been fine. I wouldn’t lose sleep over it.

It sits on a shelf behind the TV where I never touch it, and I only notice it when I’m swapping HDMI ports for something else. It’s basically a small stick, so it doesn’t really have room to get dramatically hot. I’ve left mine on for weeks at a time on a less-used TV and the only time I notice any warmth is if I actually grab it, which I never do. I would not think twice about it.
