Been using the Qinux BarkBuz for a few weeks now and it seems to do the job, but I’m curious how often you guys are charging it. I feel like I’m plugging it in more than I expected. Maybe it’s just me.

Interesting, I was actually wondering about that before buying one. Battery life is kind of a dealbreaker for me since I’d probably want to move it around the house and yard. I don’t mind charging things every few days, but if it’s becoming a daily thing that would get old fast. Curious what the average is for everyone else.

I’ve had mine about a month and I’m charging it every three or four days. But I’ve got a neighbor’s dog that sets mine off at weird hours, so it’s probably working harder than it would for most people. I don’t think it’s a dud, it’s just that the thing only holds so much juice and it reacts whenever it hears barking, not just from my own dog.

What I’d check is if it’s triggering more often than you realize. Mine sits near a window and I figured out it was picking up dogs from two houses over. Once I moved it further inside, the battery stretched out noticeably. Not saying yours is in the same spot, but it’s worth paying attention to when it actually goes off. These things drain fast if they’re constantly in use.

Interesting, I keep seeing people talk about the battery like it’s all over the place. My own experience has been pretty different from what you’re describing. I’ve had mine for about three weeks now and I think I’ve charged it twice total. I’m not using it constantly, only really when my dog starts up at the mailman or if she gets going at something in the yard.

Honestly, I was kind of expecting to be charging it way more based on the size of it. The thing is so small that I figured the battery would die every other day. That hasn’t been the case for me at all.

Maybe it depends on how sensitive your settings are or how much barking it’s actually detecting. I keep mine on a lower frequency setting most of the time. If you’re running it on the highest level all day, I could see that draining it faster. But two or three charges in a few weeks seems more like what I’m getting.

Had mine for about six weeks now. Charge it maybe once a week, but my yard is pretty quiet so it’s not firing off constantly. If yours is triggering a lot, that’s probably why you’re charging more. Not really a big deal to me, it’s not like I’m plugging it in every day.

Mine drains faster when I leave it out in the sun, if that helps. I use it mostly inside near the back door and it holds up fine for a week or so. Temperature seems to matter more than the barking frequency for me.

Charging it more than expected probably means it’s doing exactly what it’s supposed to do. If the thing is firing off every time a leaf hits the ground, of course the battery is going to drain. I wouldn’t call that a flaw, just the cost of having a noisy neighborhood.

Funny how different everyone’s results are. Mine barely makes it two days if I keep it outside near the fence line where the neighbor’s dog hangs out. Inside it lasts way longer, so I figured the constant triggering is just eating the battery.

I’m charging mine roughly every five or six days, but I’m also not home a ton so it’s not like it’s working around the clock. I mainly use it when I’m actually around to hear if it makes a difference. Honestly, the charging hasn’t bothered me that much.

I’d just keep a charger handy and not overthink the exact schedule. If it’s doing the job and the battery isn’t dying in a few hours, that’s probably normal for these things. I’d only start worrying if it stopped holding a charge at all.

I haven’t really been tracking it that closely, but mine’s been all over the place depending on what’s going on. There was a stretch where I was charging it every couple days, then it sat for almost a week without needing a charge because my dog wasn’t barking much. So I don’t think there’s a set schedule you can count on.

What I’d push back on is the idea that charging it more means it’s working harder. That’s not always true. If it’s picking up random noise and firing off when nothing’s actually barking, that drains it too, and you’re just burning battery for no reason. I’ve had mine go off from stuff that wasn’t even a dog.

So yeah, you might be plugging it in more than you expected, but I wouldn’t assume that’s just normal. Could be it’s triggering on things it shouldn’t.

Mine goes about a week if it’s just sitting in the living room, but once we’re outside with the dogs running around it drops way faster. I’d probably just charge it every few days on a schedule instead of waiting for it to die.

I actually get closer to ten days on a charge, but I only switch mine on when the barking starts. Leaving it running all day is probably what’s eating your battery, not some defect.

Mine actually got worse after the first couple weeks, not better. First few charges seemed fine and then it started dropping fast enough that I stopped bothering to keep track. I thought it was just me using it more, but I was running it about the same amount, so who knows. I ended up just charging it every other night now instead of waiting for it to die, mostly so it doesn’t quit in the middle of something. Not saying that’s normal, just what happened with mine.

I haven’t really had that issue. Mine’s still going strong and I just leave it by the back door so it catches the barking when I’m on calls. I do turn it off at night though, mostly because I don’t like the idea of it sitting there listening to nothing.
