Alright, plenty to chew on. I’ll just grab the hose, drop it in a bucket, and see what happens before I spend money on anything else. If it doesn’t pull, I’ll deal with it then.
I get the skepticism. “360 degree pressure control” sounds like marketing fluff, and for most nozzles it kind of is. My old twist nozzle had about two settings that actually mattered and the rest was just slight variations of the same spray. When I first saw the HydroXeltor, I figured it was the same deal with a fancier name.
But the adjustment on this one is more useful than I expected. It’s not a switch between “weak” and “strong” like I was bracing for. You can dial it in while you’re spraying, and the change is noticeable right away. On the low end I can rinse loose dirt off my truck without blasting water into every crack, and on the high end it’ll strip mud off concrete steps that I used to scrub by hand. Is it an electric pressure washer? No, and anyone expecting that will be disappointed. It’s still just garden hose pressure being focused harder.
Where I’d push back on the hype is the patio question. It handles loose grime, mud, and general outdoor mess fine. Old set-in stains or anything that’s basically bonded to the surface, not so much. I tried it on a section of my patio that had years of buildup and it did less than I hoped. So the adjustment is real and handy, just don’t read “360 degree pressure” as “replaces real equipment.”
I’ve had mine about two months and I stopped using the app entirely for quick stuff. Mine translates fine as long as the glasses are on and paired, even with my phone in my pocket. Maybe the app matters more for subtitles, but for just talking back and forth I never open it.
I wouldn’t assume it’s included. Mine showed the case in the pics but it wasn’t in the box. Listings play fast and loose with that.
The vibration helps mainly with soft buildup, not the hard stuff. A plain pick does basically the same job on visible tartar if you’re patient with it. I don’t think it’s worth switching unless your hands cramp up using the manual one.
I haven’t really been tracking it that closely, but mine’s been all over the place depending on what’s going on. There was a stretch where I was charging it every couple days, then it sat for almost a week without needing a charge because my dog wasn’t barking much. So I don’t think there’s a set schedule you can count on.
What I’d push back on is the idea that charging it more means it’s working harder. That’s not always true. If it’s picking up random noise and firing off when nothing’s actually barking, that drains it too, and you’re just burning battery for no reason. I’ve had mine go off from stuff that wasn’t even a dog.
So yeah, you might be plugging it in more than you expected, but I wouldn’t assume that’s just normal. Could be it’s triggering on things it shouldn’t.
Never really counted them by room size. I just threw one in the corners where I noticed droppings or gnaw marks. Ended up with three in the basement because that’s where the activity was, and one in the kitchen near the stove.
What I did notice is that placement matters more than how many you toss in. A pouch shoved behind a cabinet or under the sink seems to pull its weight better than one just sitting out in the middle of the floor. Open spaces are annoying though, the scent spreads thin fast.
If your kitchen is one of those open layout deals, I’d probably add another one near wherever food gets stored. Not a huge deal to experiment, they’re cheap enough. Just check them after a couple weeks and see if the smell is still noticeable when you get close. If it’s gone, you probably need another one.
It’s the water, not the board. Mine does the exact same thing if I rinse it and pat it dry instead of letting it air out. I switched to just wiping it down with a damp cloth and drying it right away, and that cut down on the tacky feeling a lot. It goes away completely once it’s dry, so I wouldn’t call it a problem.
It’s more like carrying a small toolbox than a brick. You know it’s there, but it’s not killing your arm after a few minutes. I found the handle grip matters more than the actual weight. Once my hand started cramping a bit, I switched to carrying it by the battery end and that helped.
Had mine on a nightstand for about two weeks now. The base is heavier than the rest of the unit, which helps. My cat has jumped onto the nightstand a few times and the fan shifted a little but didn’t tip. That said, it’s not bolted down or anything. If your cat is the type to body slam things at full speed, no fan is safe.
The bigger issue for me is the footprint. It’s not huge, but it’s not as slim as the photos make it look. If your nightstand is genuinely narrow, measure it first. Mine is a standard size and it fits fine with room for a glass and my phone.
I wouldn’t call it a hazard, but I also wouldn’t trust it on something really small or uneven. Flat surface, decent width, you’re probably okay.
I use mine in a drafty hallway and I have zero clue if there’s a timer. I just make it a habit to unplug it before I leave the room for any length of time. If you’re worried about forgetting it overnight, treat it like it doesn’t have one and you won’t have a problem.
Mine did the same thing and it cleared up once I stopped topping it off with really cold water. I think the temp difference just makes the window sweat a bit. Still readable after a few months of daily use, so I stopped paying attention to it.
I’ve used mine with sink water since I got it and haven’t had any issues. The UV part just zaps whatever’s in there, so it doesn’t really matter if it’s tap or bottled. Main thing is it keeps the bottle from getting that funky smell after a day or two. That alone is worth it for me.
The filter media inside eventually gets coated, so the limescale benefit probably fades well before the chlorine does.
I’d say the surface definitely matters more than people think, but not always in the obvious way. I’ve had mine throw weird numbers on a flat tile floor just because my weight shifted slightly while stepping on. The carpet just amplifies that. If you’re chasing consistent readings, find one spot and stick with it, regardless of what’s under it.
That’s normal. The steel wires are so much stiffer than nylon that they don’t fold back, so everything they hit gets launched instead of pushed down. I noticed the same thing when I used mine near a flower bed. You’re not doing anything wrong, it’s just a trade-off for the cutting speed.
It’ll probably be fine for that size. Mine is around 25kg and there is still plenty of slack left on the strap when I have it fitted properly. I think border collies have fairly thick necks anyway, so it should sit okay without being too loose or digging in.
The only thing I noticed is that the contact points are a bit long for dogs with really short fur. It’s not a huge deal, but if your dog has a thinner coat you might need to make sure it’s snug enough that the prongs actually touch the skin. Otherwise the vibration can feel a little weak through the fur.
But as far as the collar itself being too big or small, I wouldn’t stress about it. The adjustment range covers a wider span than you’d think just from looking at the photos. I’d say go ahead and order it if the training features are what you’re after.
A few hours should be fine. These little cams get warm if you push them, but they’re not going to melt unless you leave it baking in direct sun or something. I would not overthink it.
Probably. USB-C is pretty standardized at this point, so any decent cable should get it going. I wouldnt overthink it too much, just grab whichever one is closest and see if it charges. If it does, youre set.
I’d probably just hang the jeans in there and check them in the morning. If they’re still a bit damp at the seams, that’s what a quick iron or hanging them out for an hour is for. Winter drying is never perfect anyway, so as long as they’re not dripping, it’s doing its job.
It’s probably fine for what you’re describing. I wouldn’t overthink it, most of these things are pretty much the same at this price point. If you don’t want to mess with settings, just leave it on auto and it’ll do the job.
Works fine from across my office, never had to aim it or anything. I think people just overthink it until they actually use it.
