PixelKevinMemberJust wondering if I can keep the MozzDefense plugged into a power bank while it’s on, or if that messes with the light or the mosquito thing. I usually leave stuff charging overnight but sometimes need the light at the same time. Not sure if that’s a bad idea or if it’s fine. Anyone know?

MemberKeeping it plugged in doesn’t mess with the light at all in my experience. That part works fine while charging. The mosquito side is a different story though, plugged in or not.

Oliver BrooksMemberI’ve run mine off a power bank a couple times when camping and the light was totally normal, no flicker or anything. It does get a bit warm around the charging port after an hour or so, which is the only thing I noticed. I still unplug it before bed though, mostly out of habit.

Tom BillMemberUsing it while plugged in is fine, but I would not leave it charging every night. Mine sat on the charger for weeks and the battery stopped holding a decent charge, so now I only plug it in when it actually needs it.

Rachel ColeMemberI just unplug it when I need the light, then plug it back in when I’m done. Overnight charging plus running it at the same time seems like asking for trouble on a small battery. Not worth the hassle for me.

MemberI just leave mine plugged into the power bank the whole time honestly. It’s been a few months now and nothing weird has happened with the light or anything else. I figure if it’s designed to charge and run at once, that’s what it’s for.

MemberMine actually does act up when it’s plugged in. The light starts flickering after a few minutes on the power bank, so I just use it unplugged now. Weird that other people aren’t seeing that.

RiversMemberCharging while it runs is fine for the light, but I wouldn’t bother with the repellent side either way. That ultrasonic thing never did anything for me plugged in or not.

MemberIt works while charging, that part I’ll back. But the flickering thing some people get is usually just a cheap cable, not the unit. Mine did that with some random cord I had lying around and stopped once I swapped it. The whole “it’ll ruin the battery” panic is overblown anyway.

EliMemberMine has been plugged into a power bank on and off for a couple months now and the light stays steady. The repellent side I can’t really speak to since I never noticed it doing much either way. But as a light while charging, no issues at all on my end.

pixelnomadParticipantI’ve been running mine off a 10k power bank while it sits on the patio table, mostly because the battery on these things isn’t great in the brighter modes. It charges and lights at the same time without any issue on my end, light stays steady and the bank just drains a bit faster obviously.
The one thing I’d say is I don’t think the charging part matters much for the mosquito side either way. That whole repellent feature is the part I’m least convinced by. I mostly bought it as a small camping light and the mosquito thing was just a bonus. So if you’re worried the charging is messing with the repellent, I’d worry more about whether the repellent does much at all.
But for the light while charging, no problems here.

MemberI don’t run mine while it’s plugged in anymore. The light dimmed down a bit whenever I had it charging and on at the same time, so now I just charge it first and use it after.

MemberThe charging thing isn’t an issue at all in my experience with similar lights. I’ve had mine plugged into a wall adapter while using it plenty of times and never noticed any difference in how it performs. If you need the light on while it charges, just go ahead and do it.

Ryan__TMemberCharged mine from a car USB port outside, no problem.

MemberI actually think using it while charging is a bad idea for the long run. Mine got noticeably warmer when I did that, and I just don’t trust a cheap power bank plus a running light for hours. If I need the light, I unplug it and use it, then charge it after.

PixelKevinMemberFair enough, seems like it’s a mixed bag depending on the unit. I’ll probably just keep mine plugged in when I need the light and see how it goes. Appreciate all the replies.
