I had the same worry before I got mine, mostly because I hate having to hold things while I’m trying to work. The strap does its job for desk use, but I found that the weight of the unit itself is what really keeps it anchored. Once it’s snugged up, it kind of settles into place and doesn’t wander much.

The only time I noticed it shifting was when I reached across my desk for something on the other side. That little bit of lean-forward movement made it slide a touch, but it wasn’t sliding off or anything dramatic. Just needed a quick nudge back into position.

If you’re planning to sit relatively upright and type or read, I think you’ll be fine. It’s not going to stay perfect if you’re constantly twisting around, but for normal desk stuff it does what it needs to do.

I haven’t tried the WineCork Pro myself, but I’ve sat next to someone using one at a dinner party and it was more of a quiet whir than a loud pop. The motor noise was there but it didn’t stop conversation or anything.

Yeah, I had the same thing happen with mine on a laminate floor. It wasn’t anything major, just a faint outline like you’re describing. I just left it and it faded a bit over time.

I get what you’re saying, the heat is pretty subtle. I think it’s more of a gentle warmth to relax the muscles a bit while the traction does the main work. Not gonna replace a heating pad or anything, but it’s fine for what it is.

From what I’ve seen, the main thing is just making sure the exhaust hose has a good path out the window. If that’s set up right, it should take the edge off a 10×10 room for sure.

I just use mine with a couple ice cubes tossed into the water tank and it feels noticeably cooler for the first hour or so. The dedicated ice chamber seems like extra hassle for maybe a small difference, so I just skip it.

I dunno, I think it fits fine between my keycaps. The brush is a bit stiff but it works.

in reply to: CoolCove on a shelf vs wall mount, any difference? #4442

Appreciate everyone chiming in. Sounds like the wall mount might give a slightly cleaner airflow if you’re particular about it, but for a normal room on a shelf it’s probably not a night-and-day difference. I’ll probably just leave mine where it is and not overthink it. Thanks for the input, thread answered my curiosity.
