Does the Glacier Breeze actually need the ice chamber to work well?

I’m thinking about picking up a Glacier Breeze for my desk at work, but I’m wondering if the ice chamber is really necessary or if just using water is fine. My office can get pretty warm in the afternoon and I don’t want to be disappointed if I skip the ice. Anyone try it both ways?

I just use water most of the time and it’s fine for my desk. The ice chamber gives it a little extra kick if it’s really hot, but not enough that I’d stress about it.

I’ve only ever used mine with water and it works fine for me. The ice chamber seems like more hassle than it’s worth for most days.

Skip the ice. I use it with just water and it’s fine for my desk. The ice thing is just extra fuss for maybe a slightly cooler blast. Not worth the bother.

I’ve never bothered with the ice chamber on mine. Water alone gives you that evaporative cool-down effect, and for a desk it’s usually enough. The ice probably makes a difference if your office turns into a sauna, but I wouldn’t call it essential.

I usually just run mine with water and it’s fine for my desk. The ice chamber seems like an extra step I’d probably forget about half the time anyway.

The ice chamber is just a gimmick honestly. Water alone does the job for desk use, I wouldn’t overthink it.

Honestly, I’d just try it with water first. The ice chamber seems like something you’d mess with once and then never bother refilling.

I figure if it works with just water, that’s probably fine for most people. The ice chamber seems like an extra thing to deal with more than anything else.

I just use water and it does the job. The ice chamber is more of a nice to have than a must.

I’ve only used mine with water so far and it’s been fine for my desk setup. The ice chamber seems like something I’d forget to refill anyway.

It’s not a huge difference but I tried it both ways and the ice chamber does give a bit more of a chill for the first hour or so. If your office gets really warm it might be worth messing with, but honestly water alone still does something.

I get why people say it’s a gimmick. I tried the ice chamber a couple times and honestly it’s just extra work for maybe a slightly cooler first hour. Water alone has been fine for me.

I just use mine with a couple ice cubes tossed into the water tank and it feels noticeably cooler for the first hour or so. The dedicated ice chamber seems like extra hassle for maybe a small difference, so I just skip it.

I’ve just been running mine with water and it’s fine for my office. The ice chamber feels like more hassle than it’s worth for maybe a slightly cooler start.

I just use mine with water and it’s fine for my desk. The ice chamber seems like something I’d probably forget to prep in the morning anyway.

I think it works fine without the ice chamber. I mostly just use water and it keeps me cool enough at my desk.

I think the ice chamber sounds like one of those features you try once and then stop bothering with. Probably works fine with just water if the office gets warm, the fan alone should help.

I just use mine with water and it’s fine. I don’t really see the point of prepping ice every day.

Alright, good to know. Sounds like the ice is more of a bonus feature than a must-have. I’ll probably just start with water and see how it goes, and maybe toss some ice in if I’m feeling fancy. Thanks for the input everyone.
