I keep seeing the geofencing thing mentioned for the iTagPro and I’m kinda curious if it’s reliable in real life. Like, if I leave my bag somewhere and walk away, do you actually get the notification on time or is it more of a hit or miss thing? I get the concern about delays but honestly mine has been pretty reliable. It usually pings me within a minute or so of me walking away from my stuff. Not instant but definitely fast enough that I wouldn’t call it a miss.

Mine works but the timing depends on how far the phone is from the tag when you separate. If you drop your bag on the chair next to you and walk out, it pings almost instantly. If the tag is buried deep in a suitcase or backpack, the Bluetooth connection can hold on a bit longer and the alert takes a couple extra minutes to fire. That’s just how these things work though.

What I’d watch out for is the opposite scenario. If you’re in a crowded place and the tag is sitting still on a bench, the app sometimes treats other people’s phones as a location reference and the geofence gets a little confused. It doesn’t happen constantly but it’s happened to me a few times in airports where the tag showed a different location than where it actually was.

For basic “did I leave my stuff behind” purposes it’s fine. I wouldn’t trust it as your only safety net for something expensive.

It works, but people expect too much from it. Bluetooth trackers are basically a leash between your phone and the tag. The geofence alert is just your phone noticing the Bluetooth signal dropped. So if you walk out of range, you get the notification. It’s not magic.

The delay depends on how the app handles the disconnect. Mine has pinged me within a couple minutes of leaving my backpack behind. Not instant, but fine for travel.
