I think a lot of people skip it and the handle survives just fine. I gave mine a coat of mineral oil when I got it, mostly because I had it on hand for a cutting board. That was months ago and it still looks fine to me.
3 or 4 days sounds about right for heat use but I would probably just try turning the heat off a couple times a week to see how much longer it goes. Might give you a better idea if yours is normal or not.
I’m in the same boat with small ears, so I’m curious about this too. A friend of mine with a similar device said the fit can be hit or miss even with multiple tips.
I wouldn’t overthink the timing too much. It gets warm quick enough to notice, and that’s usually good enough for me.

I think it depends on what you’re expecting. Without ice it’s basically just a slightly damp fan, which is fine if you just want some airflow. I’m not totally sure the water does much cooling on its own though.
I think it mostly comes down to how the heat feels, not the cost. If the wattage is the same, the bill probably won’t change much.
I get the convenience argument, but I actually prefer the sleeve. The card adds a little extra thickness to my wallet that bugs me, and the sleeve just sits behind everything without changing the feel.
Interesting, sounds like yours is running a bit warm. I haven’t really noticed that with mine, but I usually only use it for a couple hours at a time.

Makes sense. I was wondering if maybe I just needed to run it longer or on a higher setting to actually feel the room change.
It’s really not that big a deal once you stop thinking about it. I barely notice the hole after using the knife for a week.
