Got the Qinux ScryneX for backyard movie nights, but I’m wondering how it holds up if there’s a bit of wind. I know it’s lightweight and all, but does it flap around too much with just ropes or tape? Not trying to chase it across the yard mid-movie.

I’d probably just stake it down a little more if it’s breezy, but honestly mine hasn’t gone flying on me yet.

I haven’t taken mine out in anything more than a light breeze yet, so I’m not totally sure how it handles stronger gusts. The ropes seem decent enough for gentle wind, but I’d be a little nervous if it gets really gusty. Probably fine if you stake it well, but I get the concern about it catching air.

I guess it depends how strong the breeze is, but I set mine up with the ropes and it stayed put in a light wind. Didn’t have any issues during the movie.

I took mine out last weekend and there was a bit of a gust now and then, but it didn’t really go anywhere. I just used the ropes and it stayed up fine, though I didn’t have it in anything super strong or anything. I think as long as you get it tied down decently you should be okay.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. The lightweight build is what makes it easy to carry, but that’s also what makes me nervous if the wind picks up.

I’d probably just weigh the bottom corners down with something if it’s breezy, like a couple of small rocks or a bag. Haven’t tested mine in anything strong though.

I just made sure to angle mine so the wind hit the side rather than the full face of the screen, and it didn’t really budge. No drama so far.

I think it handles a breeze better than you’d expect for how light it is. I had mine up on a fairly gusty evening and it just kind of wobbled a bit without going anywhere. The ropes seemed to do the job fine for me.

I don’t get the worry. It’s a screen, not a sail. If you tie it down properly it’s fine.

I haven’t used mine in a proper breeze yet, but I figure as long as you don’t set it up like a giant sail it should stay put. I’d probably just stake the bottom corners if I was worried.

I feel like people overthink this a bit. It’s a thin screen, not a parachute. 😅 Just tie it down and it’ll be fine for most nights.

Nah, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I’ve had mine out on a few breezy nights and it’s stayed put just fine. I just use a couple of bungee cords instead of tape and it’s never gone anywhere.

Honestly I think people just don’t tie things down properly and then blame the screen. It’s not like it’s some flimsy piece of paper.

I haven’t tried mine in anything stronger than a light breeze yet, but it didn’t really move much with just some rope tied to a couple of fence posts. I feel like it would have to be pretty windy before I’d worry about it flying off, but I guess it depends how you set it up.

I think maybe it depends on what you call a breeze. I had mine out on a night that felt windier than I expected and it moved around more than I wanted. Might have been how I tied it though, I didn’t really bother checking it after setting it up.

I think some people just get unlucky with the wind direction. I had mine up on a decently breezy night and it was mostly fine, but a sudden gust did make it ripple a bit. Not enough to send it flying though.

I just use mine with some heavy rocks on the bottom corners and it hasn’t moved on me yet, even on those nights where the wind picks up a bit. Might be worth trying if you have some handy.

I’d probably just test it on a calm night first before worrying too much about wind. That way you know what you’re dealing with before the breeze picks up.

I think the wind thing is probably more about where you set it up than the screen itself. If it’s open on all sides, it’s gonna catch more air.

I’ve got nothing much to add after reading through this. I just use mine with some cheap bungee cords and it’s stayed put fine. Probably overthinking it honestly, just get it up and see how it goes.
