Thanks for all the replies, this gave me a better idea of what to expect. I think I’ll grab a pair and just see how it goes on my usual drives. Appreciate everyone taking the time.
I’ve had mine sitting on a dresser for about two months and it works fine there. I don’t think mounting is required at all unless you specifically want it higher up. Mine hasn’t tipped or moved around.
If I were buying one, I’d just check the app situation before ordering, since the listing doesn’t name a specific one. That’s the part that would bug me more than the tracking itself. My sister has a similar watch and hers only really works with the brand’s own app.
I have the LARQ version and the UV cap is the main reason I stopped getting that stale smell. If I forget to wash it for a few days it still smells fine, which never happened with my old bottle. The charging is a bit annoying but I just plug it in when I notice the light blinking.
I made the switch halfway through last summer and the main thing I noticed was it doesn’t chunk up wet grass the way my metal head did. It chews through it more than slices, if that makes sense. I still keep my old blade around for the really nasty stuff, but for regular maintenance the VultrioX has been fine for me so far.

For me it’s been pretty smooth. It does take a couple of seconds to switch over when I walk away from my desk, but I don’t have to go into settings and forget the device or anything like that. The only thing I noticed is that if I have music paused on my laptop and then try to play something on my phone, it can get a little confused about which device it should be paying attention to. But if I just pause one before switching to the other, it’s fine. I wouldn’t call it a hassle, just something you get used to after a few days.

I usually fill mine about halfway because I’m lazy about making multiple trips to the sink. It still cools my desk area fine for a few hours, I just know I’ll need to top it off sooner than the full 8 hours. I wouldn’t stress about it too much, the cooler part seems to kick in either way.
I kind of like mine for what it is. The light is nice and warm, and I noticed the bugs do seem to stay away from the immediate area where I set it up. But I would never rely on it alone if I was sitting far away. It feels more like a bonus feature than the main reason to buy it.

Still, there are days it tells me I’m calm and I’m clearly not, so I don’t take it as gospel. I mostly just use it as a nudge to check in with myself rather than an actual measure of my mood.
I’ve had mine on carpet since I got it and it hasn’t been an issue for me. I do tend to just lie still and let it do its thing though. If you’re someone who shifts around a lot or tries to read or use your phone while on it, you might notice it move a little. For me it’s more about getting comfortable and relaxing for the 15 minutes, so I don’t really test how much it slides.
The only thing I’d mention is that the carpet does soften the curve a bit compared to a hard floor, but I actually prefer that. It feels less intense on my lower back. I haven’t tried it on a hard surface to compare, so I can’t say if one works better. I just know I haven’t had any problems with it moving on my medium pile carpet at home.

They’re not bad once you find the right setting, but I do wish the call volume went a little higher.

I think you’re overthinking the brightness part. The light doesn’t need to be blinding, it just needs to be visible enough in the dark and it definitely is. I’d say the bigger thing is making sure you don’t have other lights on inside the tent, otherwise the bugs will go wherever is brightest. Mine did fine in a small 2-person tent last time I went out.
I ordered mine last month and it came with one spare tip in the box, same as the one already attached. I’m still on the first one though, so I wouldn’t rush to buy backups until you’ve used it a bit.
I have one and I don’t think it’s that picky. I just stuck mine on a little stake near the flower bed and angled it so the solar bit gets sun. It still picks up animals fine even if it’s not perfectly aimed at the fence.
Appreciate all the input, everyone. Sounds like it really depends on the car and the holder, which is kind of what I figured. I might just give it a go on a shallow one and see what happens before I write it off.
