Tom BriggsMemberBeen wearing the Herz P1 Smart Ring for a couple weeks now, and the sleep and heart rate stuff seems fine. But the stress tracking gives me readings that don’t always match how I feel. Anyone else find it more noise than signal, or am I just not reading it right?

RiversMemberIf the stress reading doesn’t match how you feel, I wouldn’t lose sleep over it. Mine flags me as stressed whenever I’m sitting still watching a movie, but says I’m fine when I’m actually running around dealing with work nonsense. I just use it as a rough baseline now, not something I take seriously minute to minute.

JSmithParticipantI’d stop checking it so often and just see if the trend matches your days after a few more weeks.

MemberI actually found the opposite, mine barely ever flags stress even on days I feel completely wired. Took me a while to realize it seems to react more to physical strain than mental stress, so a busy anxious day at my desk shows nothing but a tough workout shows high stress. Maybe that’s what you’re dealing with too, just the ring reading a different kind of stress than what you feel.

Tom in NYCMemberThe stress metric is basically just HRV with a fancy name. If you sit still and your breathing slows down, it often reads as “calm” even when your brain is going a mile a minute. I stopped treating it as a mood meter and started looking at it as a physical recovery gauge instead. Completely different thing.

MemberThe stress number on mine only really moves when I’m doing something physically demanding or when I’m sick. Mentally stressful days at work? Nothing. I can be underwater with deadlines and it’ll show me as perfectly chill.
Honestly I think part of it is that I run hot and my resting heart rate is already on the higher side, so the ring’s baseline for “normal” is probably off for me. The sleep tracking has been way more useful than the stress stuff. At least that lines up with how I actually feel in the morning.
I don’t ignore the stress reading completely, but I treat it more like a physical strain gauge than a mental one. If it says I’m stressed, I probably need to eat something or take a walk. If I feel anxious and it says I’m fine, I don’t let that talk me out of what I’m feeling.

Laura ReadsMemberI think a lot of it comes down to what your baseline is. I’ve had mine for about a month and a half now, and I noticed early on that it would spike during things like intense conversations or even driving in traffic. That actually made me realize I hold tension in my shoulders way more than I thought. So for me, it wasn’t always about whether I felt “stressed” mentally, but more about picking up on physical signs I was ignoring. Still, there are days it tells me I’m calm and I’m clearly not, so I don’t take it as gospel. I mostly just use it as a nudge to check in with myself rather than an actual measure of my mood.

MemberMine does the same thing. I’ll be sitting around doing nothing and it says I’m stressed, then I’ll have a day where I’m ready to snap at everyone and it shows nothing. I just look at the sleep data now and ignore the stress number completely. It’s more of a toy than anything useful.

MemberI get what you mean about the readings not lining up with how you actually feel. I had a day last week where I was completely stressed out over a work thing and my ring showed me as totally chill the whole time. Then Sunday I was just relaxing around the house and it kept telling me I was in a tense state. I stopped paying much attention to it after that.

MemberI stopped looking at the stress number on mine entirely. It’s just not granular enough to mean anything in the moment. I use it more like a weekly trend to see if I’m burning out, but the day to day readings are basically random noise as far as I’m concerned.

Zoe MatthewsMemberI’m actually fine with mine reading higher on days I feel okay. For me it’s been more useful as a heads up that I’m not recovering as well as I think, even if I don’t feel terrible. The real test was a stressful week where I felt fine but the ring kept saying otherwise, and looking back I was running on way less sleep than I realized.

MemberI actually like that it doesn’t always match my mood. For me it’s been a better early warning system than how I feel in the moment. There’s been a few times where it flagged high stress and I brushed it off, then crashed a day later. I treat it more like a background clue than something to check when I’m already worked up.

MemberI’m kind of in the opposite boat. I barely notice when I’m stressed until it’s bad, so having a number that sometimes flags me when I feel fine is actually helpful. It makes me stop and check in with myself instead of just pushing through. That alone is worth it for me.

MemberI’d say give it a bit more time before you judge it. I was confused the first couple weeks too because mine would spike when I felt totally fine. For me it’s more useful looking at the overall trend over the week than what it says at any random moment. I’ve started checking mine more at night or in the morning to see if my day was more draining than I realized.

MemberI treat mine as a rough guide rather than a mirror of how I feel in the moment. The stress score makes more sense to me when I look at it as a trend over a full day instead of checking it constantly. It’s kind of like a weather forecast, useful for planning but not something to obsess over hourly.
3 de September de 2026 at 08:23 #9344MeryVip
MemberI think the trick is to stop treating it like a mood ring and start looking at the trends. If I check mine only when I feel great or terrible, it never makes sense. But when I scroll back over a few days I can see patterns that I completely missed at the time. Maybe try ignoring the daily number for a while and see if the weekly picture lines up better for you.

MemberThe stress number is a decent proxy, but I stopped looking at it as a real-time gauge. I found it much more telling when I compare it against my sleep HRV the next morning. A high stress day followed by a low HRV night tells me more than the score itself ever did. It’s a lagging indicator, not a live one.
3 de September de 2026 at 08:55 #9348
Matt__MemberMine spikes when I’m driving in traffic and it reads that pretty accurately, so I trust it more than my own mood.
3 de September de 2026 at 09:13 #9350Brooky
MemberI think it depends a lot on what you’re comparing it to. I’ve had mine long enough that I stopped checking the stress number during the day entirely because it was just making me second guess myself. But I do look at the end of the week and see that it lines up with days I know were rough, just delayed. Like I’ll have a busy Tuesday where I felt fine in the moment and then the ring shows elevated stress all afternoon. It’s not useless, it’s just not a live read on your feelings.
The only time I really pay attention to it now is when I’m trying to figure out why my sleep was bad. If the stress was high before bed, that explains a lot more than my own perception does.

Tom BriggsMemberAppreciate the responses, gave me something to think about. I’ll keep wearing it and see if the stress data makes more sense over a longer stretch. Probably just need to stop expecting it to read my mood and let it do its own thing.
