Saw a few posts about the Qinux VultrioX and it seems to handle grass okay. I’m mostly curious if the wire brush actually works for moss on a concrete driveway or if it just scuffs it around. I don’t need it for heavy brush, just some green stuff growing in the cracks. Seems like it might save me from replacing trimmer line every five minutes. Any real world experience with that?

Wire heads do work on moss but they leave scratch marks on the concrete if you press too hard. I borrowed one from a neighbor and got the green off my patio, though it took a couple passes on the stubborn bits. Not sure I’d buy my own for that job alone.

For moss in driveway cracks it does the job better than line in my opinion. Line just whips over the top and the wire actually gets down in there and scuffs it out. It’s not going to make the concrete look brand new or anything, but it clears the green stuff.

Moss on concrete is a bit of a mixed bag with these wire heads. I’ve got a wire brush head on my trimmer and used it on the patio slabs out back where green stuff was creeping along the joints. It does tear the moss up, way better than line ever did, and I wasn’t stopping every ten minutes to bump the head. But it doesn’t really sweep it clean, it flings bits everywhere and some of the stuff just gets smeared into the surface. Took a couple of passes and then a stiff broom to actually clear it. On my concrete it left faint marks too, nothing horrible but you can see them in certain light. For cracks and edges though it’s handy. Just don’t expect it to look like you pressure washed it.

I’d say the wire part is what actually makes it worth trying for moss, because the green stuff in cracks just laughs at regular line. My dad has a similar steel brush head on his old trimmer and he uses it on the patio every spring. It does scrape the moss out of the gaps, but the big thing I noticed is that it works best when the moss is a bit dry. After rain it just smears around and makes a mess. He goes over the same spots a couple of times and then sweeps it after. No trimmer line to mess with, which is the main reason he keeps using it. It’s not a miracle tool, but for a driveway with light green growth it seems to do the job without too much fuss.

Mine chewed through the moss on my patio better than the line ever did. It does leave the concrete a bit rougher looking, but I got used to that. If you’re just doing cracks it’s a solid swap.

I gave up on line for that exact job and grabbed one of these instead. It does bite into the moss in the cracks, but it also chewed up the edges of my concrete a bit. Works, just go easy around the nice parts.

I tried a wire head on our patio moss and it was honestly more hassle than the line for me. It grabs the moss but also snags on every little edge, and I spent more time untangling than trimming. For light green stuff in cracks I’d just spot treat it instead of buying a whole head.

If I had that moss problem on a driveway I’d just grab the wire head and be done with it instead of fighting with line. I used mine on a brick walkway last month and it took the moss down to the surface without much fuss. It does leave the bricks looking a bit scuffed after, so keep that in mind if the concrete finish matters to you.

Mine handled the moss between my pavers fine, and I didn’t have to keep stopping to bump the line. It did take a couple passes to get down into the deeper gaps though. Way less annoying than replacing line constantly, that part alone was worth it for me.
