I think mine is in a spot that only gets a couple hours of late afternoon sun and it’s been fine. I wouldn’t worry too much about it unless your corner is basically in full shade all day.
I noticed mine seems to take the edge off when the AC kicks on, lights used to dip a little and now they don’t as much. Could be placebo, but I’m not messing with it.
I’ve noticed the same thing. On muggy days it just feels like I’m making the air thicker, not cooler. Works way better when the air is dry to begin with.
I get what you mean about not wanting another thing to keep charged. I take mine on short weekend trips and haven’t had it die on me yet, but I’m not sure I’d trust it for a full two weeks without topping it off once.
I always wonder if people factor in what the laptop is actually doing when they say it doesn’t charge. Like, if you’re running a bunch of stuff in the background, even 30W might just slow the drain rather than actually topping it off.
The 4 week thing seems like a safe baseline, but I think it mostly depends on how much you actually use it. I have one and I just swap the filter when the flow starts slowing down noticeably, which for me is usually closer to two months. The ongoing cost is pretty reasonable if you buy the multi-packs, so I wouldn’t overthink it before getting one.
I’ve got one in my office and it makes a slight hum, but it’s barely there. I’m usually pretty picky about noise and it doesn’t bother me at all.
I skimmed through and it seems like most people with soft water aren’t blown away by it. I think if you’re not noticing a chlorine smell or dryness, you’re probably not missing much.
I’ve only used mine a handful of times but it feels like a mild deep warmth to me, not really a surface heat if that makes sense. I just leave it on and forget about it until I notice my shoulders feel less tight. Works fine for what it is.
I haven’t really looked that close at mine but it seems smooth enough when I’m just flying around the park. Honestly I’m not too fussed about the exact frame rate as long as the clips look decent for sharing with friends.
I haven’t really tested the translation mode for super long stretches, but I’d guess it does drain a bit more since it’s doing a lot in the background. The case charging is pretty fast though, so it never felt like a big deal to me.
