Looking at the Black Falcon Drone but I’m not trying to spend an hour fiddling before every flight. How long does it actually take to get it unfolded, paired, and in the air? I’m guessing there’s some app or phone step in there, just wondering if it’s a pain or not.

Once you’ve done it a few times it’s pretty much muscle memory. I had mine out of the bag and hovering within a couple minutes, and that includes connecting my phone. The app part is just a quick pairing screen for me, no real fiddling. It’s definitely not one of those drones you dread taking out.

I’ll be honest with you, I timed mine once because I was curious about the same thing. From pulling it out of the bag to actually getting the props spinning, it was around three minutes. The phone connection is the slowest part, but only because you have to wait for the app to recognize the drone. The physical unfolding is nothing, it’s two arms and you’re done.

What I’d guess trips people up is the first time you do it. The controller pairing isn’t hard but the app menus aren’t obvious and you might sit there for a few minutes figuring out which button does what. After that, it’s routine.

I’ve had days where it took longer because the app decided to update or the phone refused to connect on the first try. That happened more than once. Not a dealbreaker, but don’t buy this expecting to be airborne in sixty seconds every single time. Five minutes is a safer estimate if you’re not rushing.

It’s not the setup that’ll eat your time, it’s the phone connection. That first pair can be fiddly if the app doesn’t grab it right away. Once it’s linked though, I can go from bag to hover in about three minutes. The folding part is easy, the app is just the usual annoyance.
