I think the pause actually gets easier when you stop treating it like a translation delay and more like a phone call lag. Once I started using it for longer stretches with the same person, we kind of fell into a rhythm where the gap felt normal. Still not great for group chats though, that’s where it falls apart for me.
Eh, I think the pads on these newer ones are just made a bit different, mine feel slightly less thick too but it hasn’t really been an issue. I just make sure the skin is clean and dry before sticking them on and they seem to last a while. Maybe I just got lucky with mine but I haven’t had to replace them yet.
I feel like any USB-C cable works here, but I do wonder if the slower ones just take a bit longer to get it full. I have a habit of grabbing whatever is next to my couch and it seems to top up fine, just not super fast. Probably not a big deal unless you are in a hurry.
I just took mine out of storage and used the heat setting for the first time this season, and it did the exact same thing. Smelled like a dusty closet for a bit. I figured it was just the air moving through after sitting around, and it faded once it ran for a while.
That clicking is just the internal relay opening when the timer cuts the power. Totally normal for this type of unit. I barely notice it anymore since it blends in with the other little sounds the house makes at night.
Good to know I’m not the only one who just pops one in. I tried it after reading some replies and it worked fine for what I needed, so I’ll stop overthinking it.
I’ve seen the filter packs floating around for around 15 to 25 bucks, so it’s not crazy expensive. Honestly, for how much of a difference it makes with the white spots, I’d say it’s worth it.
I dunno, I kinda feel like people wing it a bit too much with these things on glass. I’d probably want something a bit more targeted than just the wide nozzle, even on low.
I’ve had mine running in parking mode most nights for a couple weeks now and honestly haven’t seen any battery issues. My car’s just a basic sedan too, so I was a little worried at first, but it’s been totally fine. The motion detection seems to keep it from recording nonstop, which probably helps a lot.
I’d probably just throw it in there and see what happens. Worst case you pull it out if it doesn’t ping, but I bet it’ll be fine.
Alright, thanks for the replies everyone. Sounds like I was probably overthinking it, so I’ll just give it a try in that spot and see how it goes.
I think some people worry too much about these units just being fans with extra steps. I have seen one work in a room that size and it definitely felt cooler, not just breezier. You won’t get arctic cold out of it, but it does more than circulate air.
