Quick question before I decide on the GrillWizz. The 180° head, can you actually adjust it while the brush is running, or do you have to stop and fiddle with it? Just wondering if it’s easy to switch between the grates and the sides without turning it off.

I get the hesitation, but honestly, you’re overthinking this one. I’ve had mine for a few months now and I adjust the head while it’s spinning all the time. It’s not like some stiff joint you have to wrestle with. You just grip the handle and tilt it with your other hand. Takes half a second.

Switching from the flat grates to the side walls is actually the main reason I bought it. Stopping the brush every time would defeat the whole point. No, you don’t need to turn it off. It clicks into place at different angles and stays put once you’re scrubbing.

The only thing I’d say is don’t expect to do it one-handed. You need both hands, one on the handle and one on the head, but that’s pretty standard for any adjustable tool. It’s not fiddly, just needs a firm twist. Works fine while running.

I can see why you’d want to switch mid-clean without stopping. For me, it’s not really a big deal because the motor is quiet enough that pausing it for a second doesn’t bother me. I just click it off, tilt the head, and go again. The lock on the angle is solid too, so it doesn’t drift when you’re pressing against the grates.

I usually just stop it when I flip the head. Not because I have to, but because it feels weird to twist it while the brush is chewing away. The adjustment itself is easy enough, one hand, no tools. But doing it live kind of defeats the point since you still have to reposition your grip anyway.

That said, I don’t find it annoying. The pause is like half a second. Motor’s not loud enough to make me dread turning it back on either. I mostly clean the grates flat, then angle it for the side walls at the end, so I’m not flipping back and forth constantly. If you’re the type who likes to bounce between surfaces every few seconds, you might get tired of it. But for normal cleaning, it’s a non-issue.

I actually think it depends more on how comfortable you are with the motion than anything else. I’ve switched it while it’s running a few times, and it works fine, but the angle change feels a little abrupt when the brush is spinning at higher speed. I usually just drop it to low and flip it without stopping.

I don’t really switch mine while it’s running. Not that it won’t do it, I just find it easier to pause for a second and flip the head. The motion is a bit awkward if the brush is spinning, at least for me. Takes two seconds anyway.

I think I’m in the minority here, but I actually don’t mind stopping to flip it. Not because it’s hard to do while running, but because I usually need to reposition my hand anyway when I move from the grates to the side walls. By the time I’ve switched angles, I’ve naturally paused for a second regardless.

That said, I have tested it mid-spin a couple times just to see, and the head does move without much resistance. It’s not like you need two hands or a ton of force. But for me, the whole point of this thing is to make cleaning less annoying, so I don’t see the big deal in just letting off the trigger for a beat.

I guess if you’re the type who likes to keep a steady rhythm and not break it, you’d probably be fine doing it live. But I wouldn’t let that be the deciding factor either way.
