Looking at the AlarmTag for my nightly walks. One thing I can’t figure out from the product photos: when you pull the pin, does the strobe light keep flashing until you put the pin back in, or does it stop after a while? I’d want it visible the whole time if someone’s nearby.

The strobe keeps going until you slide the pin back in. That’s the whole point of the design. If it stopped on its own, it would defeat the purpose of having a visual signal when you might be incapacitated or need to keep attention on the situation.

That is not what I have seen with mine at all. I have had an AlarmTag for about a year now and the strobe stays lit for as long as the pin is out. I use it mostly when I am walking my dog in the evenings and I have definitely let it run for a solid few minutes when I fumbled with the pin after a scare. It was still flashing away.

I actually think it is designed to keep going until you physically reset it. If it timed out on its own, that would be a huge flaw for a safety device. You want it to keep making noise and flashing until you are safe and can turn it off yourself. Mine has never cut out on me, and I have had it going for a while while I was trying to get my keys sorted out. So I would say you are good to go for your nightly walks.

If the pin is out, it keeps flashing. I have accidentally set mine off in my bag before and had to dig it out to shut it up. It doesn’t time out on its own. For your walks, it will be going until you physically stop it, so visibility won’t be the issue.

The pin stays out means the light keeps going, plain and simple. I’ve set mine off fumbling with my keys at the door and it was still blinking away when I finally got it silenced. For what you’re describing, it will stay visible as long as you need it to.

I think the strobe is meant to be continuous while the pin is out. For your walks though, I’d be more concerned about how bright it actually is from a distance. Mine looks decent up close but I’ve never tested how visible it is from across a street. Maybe worth considering if that’s your main worry.

Mine has never timed out on me. I’ve accidentally left the pin out in a drawer once and it was still blinking when I found it a couple hours later, which honestly made me laugh. For your walks, I wouldn’t worry about it dying mid-use.

I keep reading that it flashes the whole time the pin is out, but that hasn’t been my experience. I got one a few months ago and tested it on a weekend afternoon just to see how loud it really was. I pulled the pin in my backyard, let it run while I went inside to grab my phone, and it was already off by the time I came back out. Maybe two or three minutes at most.

I thought I had a defective unit at first. I put the pin back in and pulled it again, same thing. It stopped on its own. The siren also seemed to taper off, not like a sudden cut, more like it was winding down. That would worry me if I actually needed it to keep going while someone was nearby.

What I do like about it is that the initial burst is genuinely loud. It got my attention and I was the one who set it off. But the whole point of a strobe on a safety alarm is to stay visible if you drop it or someone grabs your bag. If it dies after a minute, that part is kind of pointless.

I still carry mine on walks because it’s small and the first few seconds of noise are enough to scare off most situations. But I would not rely on it as a continuous signal. Test yours the moment you get it, because if it behaves like mine, you need to know that going in.

I’d want the same thing for nighttime walks, so I get why you’re asking. Mine flashes continuously until the pin goes back in. I’ve left it sitting on my kitchen counter without the pin more than once and it’s still going when I remember to check.

The way I read it, the strobe is tied to the pin being out, so it should keep going until you reset it.
