Mine has been sitting on a desk since I got it and I haven’t had any of the wandering issues. It just stays where I put it. I think the difference might be what kind of surface you have, because mine is on a cheap desk mat that has a bit of grip to it, and I’ve never once seen it shift even on the highest setting. So when I see people saying theirs slides around, I kind of wonder if they’ve got it on bare glass or something really slick, because that hasn’t been my experience at all.
The one thing I’d actually bring up that I don’t see mentioned much is where you point it. On a desk it’s sitting lower than it would on a wall, so the air tends to hit you more in the legs or torso depending on how high your desk is. That’s fine if you’re sitting right there, but it’s not going to circulate the way a wall mount up high would. For a home office setup that’s honestly all I need, but if you’re expecting it to cool a whole room from desk height you might be disappointed. It does what it says on the box for tabletop use though. I’ve had mine a few months and haven’t felt any urge to go buy a drill.
I have a similar remote situation with mine but the weird part is it depends on what the wall is made of. In my old place the interior walls were basically cardboard and drywall, and I could fire it up from the next room without much trouble. Moved to a place with thicker walls and now it’s dead the second I step into the hallway. Same remote, same lamp, nothing else changed. So when people say it works or doesn’t through a wall, I kind of want to know what their walls are made of before I believe them. If you’re mostly worried about the timer thing, I’d just lean on that since it doesn’t care about walls at all. But if you specifically want to trigger it while you’re in another room, that’s going to come down to your building more than the remote itself.
If your pressure is already weak, a shower head isn’t going to fix the actual cause, which is usually the plumbing or the water line. The micro-pressurization thing is mostly about spray pattern, not adding real pressure. I’ve seen these filter heads actually cut flow a bit once the cartridge starts loading up.
I think finger choice matters less than people make it sound, but there’s a catch. I’ve tried a few smart rings and the sensor needs decent contact with the skin, so a finger that’s too thin or where the ring spins around will give you garbage data. For me the middle finger has always been the sweet spot because it tends to be a bit thicker than the ring finger and the fit stays put.
As for switching hands, I wouldn’t bother unless the app specifically tells you to. I’ve seen people treat it like some calibration ritual but in my experience you just pick a finger, size it right, and leave it there. Consistency seems to help more than anything since the sleep and recovery stuff is looking at trends over time anyway. If you’re moving it around every day you’re just adding noise.
I actually wait until it’s fully dry, not just hazy. The hazy thing sounds good in theory but I got impatient once and wiped too early and it just smeared around. Waiting longer has never made it harder for me.
I’m in the same boat honestly, my regular steel bottle gets that stale smell way faster than I’d like. The charging part is what bugs me though, I already have enough stuff to plug in every night. For me the UV is a nice-to-have, not something I’d pay a premium for just to skip a rinse.
Interesting, because mine have actually been fine in that regard. I’ve taken a few calls walking past a construction site and the other person only mentioned it once, briefly. If you’re just planning to use it for looking around camp at night, no card needed. The screen will show you everything fine on its own.
I’d still grab one before your first trip though, since the recording is kind of the main reason to pick a digital unit over a cheaper analog one. Not a huge deal if you wait, just means you’re limited to eyeballing stuff until you get one.
I had mine running on a thick rug for a few months and it was fine. Airflow seemed fine to me, no weird overheating or anything. The carpet did not block much since the unit pulls from the sides anyway. I would not overthink the surface thing unless you have some super shaggy pile.

I put mine on the bottom shelf near the veggie drawers just because it stays out of the way there and I forget about it until the charge reminder pops up. Can’t say I noticed a huge difference in smells, but the fruit does seem to last a bit longer than before.
Interesting that you mention that. I actually expected the opposite because I had a different plug-in heater before that really did make the air feel thick after maybe an hour. With the WarmPro I have not gotten that same sensation, even when I leave it on longer than I probably should.
I think the difference for me is that the fan keeps moving air around instead of just radiating heat off one spot. My old one felt like it was just cooking the air directly in front of it, and after a while the room did feel kind of heavy. This one seems to circulate things enough that it just feels like a normal warm room rather than a stuffy one.
Could be related to room size too, I suppose. My bedroom is not huge, so maybe that works in its favor. Or maybe I just run it at a lower setting and that changes things. Either way, I have not had that heavy feeling with this unit, and I was half expecting to based on past experience with similar heaters.
The case is completely irrelevant. The card doesn’t connect to your phone via Bluetooth in that sense once it’s paired. It just broadcasts a signal that any nearby Apple device picks up and relays to you. Toss it in a bag, a coat pocket, wherever, it really doesn’t care about the phone being in a case or not. The setup is the only part that needs your actual phone.
Carrying a power bank is probably the safer call, but I’m not convinced the battery is the weak point here. I’ve taken mine on a few day trips where I only pulled it out for short exchanges here and there, and it was still showing decent charge by evening. Mostly it depends on how chatty you are, I guess.

Honestly, the holder is doing all the heavy lifting already. If your passport stays in it, the Guardality is just a piece of plastic taking up space. I get wanting the extra layer, but it’s not doing anything the holder isn’t already doing for that specific item. I’d save the money unless you plan on taking the passport out regularly.
I think people overestimate how fragile puppies are with stuff like this. The device just makes a sound they don’t like, it’s not like it’s scaring them or causing pain. If your pup is old enough to understand that barking triggers it, which yours clearly does since it’s working, then I would say keep going. At that age they bounce back from everything anyway.
I think people overcomplicate the OBD2 thing. If the plug fits, you’re probably fine. My only personal preference is that I like to check the connector pins before shoving anything in there, just to make sure nothing looks bent or dirty. A 2008 should be okay, it’s not like they changed the whole system overnight.
It’s funny you mention that, because for me the shift was less about coverage and more about actually sticking with it. With the panel I’d skip sessions because setting it up felt like a whole thing. The mask I can just throw on while I’m reading, so I end up using it way more consistently even if each session is shorter.
I think the counter outlet would be fine honestly. These plug-in units usually have the sensors arranged so they work at typical outlet height, which is why they’re designed that way. I wouldn’t overthink it, just avoid putting it behind a cabinet door or something where air can’t circulate around it.
I think the evenness question depends more on where you put it than the actual size of the room. I’ve got mine in a guest room that’s probably around the same size as your office, maybe a bit smaller, and I don’t notice any dead zones. But I also didn’t expect it to work like central air. It’s more like having a strong space heater or a fan that actually cools, if that makes sense.
The one thing I’d say is that if you have a desk against the wall, don’t mount it directly above where you sit. The airflow is pretty focused when it’s close to you. I had mine angled down from a shelf at first and it was blasting my neck all day. Moved it across the room and it’s been fine. I think for 80 sq ft you’re fine as long as you’re not putting it three feet from your face.
I have one of these and honestly the remote through walls thing works way better than I expected. I just shut the door, hit the button from the hallway, and walk off. Never noticed any issues with light bleeding under the door or anything. The auto shutoff gives me peace of mind too.
