I’ve had the Qinux ScryneX for a couple weeks and it’s been solid for backyard movie nights. But there’s still one crease that won’t go away no matter how I hang it. Is that just how these things are, or am I storing it wrong? I usually fold it up after use and stuff it in the bag. Maybe rolling is better? Not a huge deal but it’s a bit distracting during bright scenes.

Folding is what does it. I had a cheap screen a while back and the fold lines were way more stubborn than any wrinkle I got from rolling it. I switched to rolling mine around a pool noodle and those hard creases basically stopped forming. The one that was already there did fade after a few weeks of hanging, though it took longer than I expected. So I’d push back a bit on the idea that it never flattens. It does, just slowly, and only if you stop putting new creases in the same spots every time. If you keep folding it the same way you’re basically refreshing the problem. Not saying rolling is a magic fix, but it made a real difference for me compared to stuffing it in the bag.

Rolling helped mine a bit but that one crease never fully went away. After a few months it faded enough that I stopped noticing it during movies. I just hang it tighter now and leave it up longer.

Probably storage related since mine smoothed out after a few days hanging.

Mine did flatten out but it took way longer than a couple weeks, more like a month or two of hanging. I never fold mine though, I just lay it flat on a spare bed between uses. Folding is what puts those hard creases in that don’t want to let go.

Folding it up and stuffing it in the bag is probably your issue more than the screen itself. I get why people fold these things, it’s fast and the bag is right there, but that habit is what sets the crease in deep. I had a similar screen and the fold line stuck around way longer than any wrinkle from just being hung up.

I actually disagree that it’s just how these things are. Mine sat in the closet folded for like a month between uses and that one line got worse, not better. Once I stopped folding it and started laying it flat under a couch or hanging it loose in the garage, it slowly relaxed. Took a while but it did come out.

Two weeks isn’t much time either way though. If you keep folding it after every use you’re basically resetting the clock each time.

Mine still has a faint line after about six weeks, but it only shows up when the projector is really bright. I hang mine from the grommets and leave it up most of the time, which helped more than anything I did with the bag. Rolling is easier on it than folding, but I doubt it gets rid of a crease that’s already set in.

Mine actually got worse before it got better, so hanging it right away did not do much for me. The line was still obvious after a month, and I stopped expecting it to fully disappear. I just live with it now since it only really shows up in very bright scenes.

I have the same screen and noticed the crease got a lot less obvious once I started leaving it hanging between uses instead of packing it up right after movie night. Mine lives on the patio now, and after maybe three weeks of just staying up, that line pretty much disappeared unless I’m looking for it. So I think the folding is what keeps refreshing it. Not saying you need to leave it up permanently, but even hanging it somewhere for a day or two before the next use might help more than rolling it tighter.

As for whether it ever fully flattens, mine hasn’t gone 100 percent perfect but it’s close enough that I forgot about it. The only time I notice anything now is if the projector is really bright and I’m sitting off to the side. Straight on, it looks fine. So it does improve, just slower than you’d expect.

Folding it is not the problem. I’ve had mine rolled tight in the bag for months and that crease still shows up in bright scenes. Some of these screens just keep a memory in the material no matter how you store them.

Mine still has a faint crease too and I’ve had it since spring. It’s way less noticeable now than it was at first though, and honestly once the movie starts I forget about it. Bright scenes are the only time I catch it.

Mine took closer to two months before I stopped noticing it. The last bit that lingered was right where it had been creased the longest, so the storage habit probably matters more than people admit. I roll mine now instead of folding and it’s been better since.

Mine has one stubborn crease near the middle that never fully disappeared, even after hanging it for a while. What actually helped was switching to rolling it around a cardboard tube from an old wrapping paper roll before it goes in the bag. Folding it the same way every time just kept pressing the same line back in. It’s not perfect now, still slightly visible if I look for it, but way less obvious during a movie. I don’t think these fabric screens ever get completely flat unless you go with a fixed frame, but the rolling thing made a bigger difference than I expected. Worth a shot if you’ve got an empty tube lying around.

Rolling it probably won’t save you. I’ve watched a few people deal with these fabric screens and the crease tends to live right where the material got bent hardest, regardless of whether it went in the bag flat or rolled. One guy I know kept his rolled on a tube for like six weeks and that line was still there under bright scenes, just slightly softer. So if the fold is set in a spot that catches light, it’s basically part of the screen now.

Personally I’d rather deal with a permanent crease than fight with stretching it every single time. Hanging it taut is one thing, but if it means redoing the tension after every movie night, that kills the whole point of a portable screen for me. I’d take a slightly visible line over a setup ritual any day.

Where exactly is the crease? Middle or near an edge?

Folding it up every time is probably making that crease worse, not storage in general. I’ve left mine hanging on the wall for the past month and the lines have faded a lot compared to when I kept packing it away. So yeah, I’d say rolling beats folding if you have to put it up.

Mine actually got pretty flat after a few weeks of hanging it in the sun before each use. That said, I don’t fold mine at all, I lay it flat in the back seat of the car between movie nights. The heat plus hanging seems to do more than any rolling trick. Maybe try leaving it out longer before you pack it up?

I’ve had mine since around May and that last little crease near the edge is still there, though it’s gotten way less obvious. What I noticed is that it’s not really about how long I leave it hanging, it’s more about where it sits when it’s packed away. Mine ended up with a permanent-ish line right along a fold that kept landing in the same spot in the bag, so after a while that spot just seemed to hold the shape more than the rest. I don’t think these ever go fully glass-flat, at least not the fabric kind. For backyard stuff it’s fine, but if I were using it for something where the picture really needs to look clean, I’d probably notice that line too.
