You’ll probably get more out of them than people let on, but it depends on what you’re watching. I tried mine with a few subtitled foreign films and it was fine when the dialogue was clean, less so when things got busy. For just following the plot it’s doable.
Mine pulls from a bucket without any priming, you just drop the hose in and hit the trigger. First few seconds it sputters a bit while it’s pulling the water up, then it’s fine. I mostly use it that way at my apartment since there’s no outdoor tap anywhere near the parking area.
One thing I noticed though, it doesn’t like sitting too deep or getting the filter buried in crud at the bottom. I had a bucket with some grit in it and the flow got weak until I moved the hose up a bit. So the suction itself works, it’s just the intake end that needs to stay reasonably clear. Nothing you have to babysit, just something I ran into.
The waterproof case thing is more about which seller you buy from than the camera itself, from what I’ve seen. Qinux sells the Pixgo through a bunch of different listings and some of them are basically camera-only, even though the photos look identical at a glance. I remember looking at a couple of these action cam listings last year, not this exact one, and the accessory bundle varied a lot between sellers. One had the case plus mounts, another was just the cam and a charging cable. Same model name, same price range, totally different box contents. So the box contents aren’t really standardized across sellers. If snorkeling is the whole reason you’re buying it, I’d make sure the listing you click actually shows the case as part of what’s included, not just a lifestyle photo of someone using it near water. High ceilings do change the math on these little plug-in heaters, but not in a way that makes them useless. I had one in a place with a tall living room and what I noticed is it warms the air around wherever you put it, just not the whole volume of the room. So if you’re sitting on the couch with it nearby, you feel it fine. The catch is the warmth doesn’t really climb or spread much, so the upper part of the room stays whatever temp it was. It’s more about where you are than how big the room is.
I’d think of it as heating your little zone rather than the room itself. If you’re usually in one spot in that living room, it can still be worth it. If you’re moving around a lot, you’ll notice it doesn’t follow you.
I’ve got a septic too and I’ve used it maybe three times over a year, mostly when the tub drained slow. Tank got pumped a few months back and the guy didn’t say anything was off. Powder vs liquid never really crossed my mind, it just goes in and gets flushed out.
The size of the brush is the main thing I notice too. I don’t think it’s really about the motor or battery giving out on a staircase, it’s more that the head is just narrow so you end up doing more passes. If you’re only hitting a few steps at a time it’s fine, but doing a whole flight in one go gets tedious just from the back and forth. I’ve used small handhelds before where the shape of the tool mattered way more than the actual suction, and this feels like one of those cases. It’s not that it can’t handle the stairs, it’s that the attachment makes you work a bit harder for it. For quick spot stuff it’s totally fine, I just wouldn’t expect it to feel efficient on a long run of steps.
For me the whole connection thing is a non-issue. I have mine hooked up to my PC for gaming and my phone for music, and it just hops between the two without me having to dig into settings every time. Maybe I got lucky, but I have not had to forget and re-pair them once since I set them up.
The battery keeps the sensors running, not just the alarm. But I would not assume the screen stays on the whole time. I noticed mine dims the display pretty fast on battery to save power, which makes sense. So it is still watching, you just cannot glance at it as easily during an outage.
I’d play it safe with this one. Even though some people get away with power strips, I’ve had too many heaters over the years that eventually tripped something or made the strip feel warm to the touch. That’s usually the sign you shouldn’t push it. Heaters are one of those things where the manual says direct wall outlet for a reason, and I’d rather trust that than gamble on a $15 extension cord.
That said, I get the awkward outlet thing. My old setup had the bed blocking the only decent outlet in the room, so I used a heavy duty cord for a while with a different heater. It worked, but I always unplugged it when I wasn’t home. With the WellHeater specifically, it’s compact enough that I’d probably just rearrange the room slightly or use a short, thick extension cord rated for the wattage if there’s no other option. But honestly, the safest route is moving a lamp or something else to the strip instead and giving the heater its own spot on the wall.
If the outlet is really that far, maybe look at where you’d place the heater anyway. These things work best when they’re not tucked behind furniture or under a desk, so you might find a better spot that also happens to be closer to an outlet. I’d just avoid making the cord the permanent solution.
I’ve kept mine in the door pocket for about six months now. It’s been through both freezing mornings and those days where the car feels like an oven, and I haven’t noticed anything off with it. The masks still fit fine and the plunger moves smoothly. I’d say go for it.
I used mine on a chain that had been sitting around with some rust and uneven teeth, and it definitely brought it back to a usable state. Not like factory new, but it cut way better than before. I think as long as the cutters aren’t completely rounded off, it’ll grab them fine.
Tap water is totally fine for the UV part to work, since it’s really about zapping whatever is already in the bottle. The one thing I’d keep in mind is that it isn’t doing anything about minerals or taste, so if your sink water has a weird flavor, you’ll still taste it. I just use mine with regular tap and it does the job for keeping the bottle from getting funky.
Took me about four or five nights before I stopped fiddling with it. I sleep on my back mostly and kept shifting the little wings around until I found the spot where my neck actually rests in the curve. Now it’s fine, but I still notice it more than my old flat pillow.
I’ve seen a few of these manual sharpeners and most of them are made around the standard 3/8 and .325 stuff. The Qinux one looks like it follows the same idea, so if you’re running something like 1/4 or 3/8 low profile, you might be out of luck. The guide arm has to sit on the cutter just right, and if the pitch is off, the angle gets weird and you end up making things worse.
Honestly, I think it’s more about the file size matching the chain than the tool itself. If you swap between different pitches, you’d probably need to switch files anyway, and this thing might not hold them all the same way. It’s not like it auto-adjusts or anything.
If you only have one saw per pitch size, you might be better off just getting a file guide for each one instead of trying to make a single tool work across everything.
I counted once out of boredom and got around 600 unique titles before I stopped. The rest is just regional versions and hacks of the same games. Still, for the price, you’re basically paying a few cents per game, so I wouldn’t lose sleep over the marketing number.
I mostly run mine on the fan setting without water unless the room feels sticky. The cold water thing feels like it makes the initial blast a bit sharper for a few minutes but after that it’s basically the same as tap temp. I gave up worrying about it and just fill it straight from the sink.
The port itself is not going to be your issue. My car is from around that same era and the plug went in with zero fuss. It’s the same shape they’ve used for ages, so you are good on that front.
What I will say is that it takes a bit of patience. I plugged mine in and expected something to happen right away, but it didn’t really do much for the first week. You have to let it do its thing while you drive around. After I put a couple of tanks of gas through it, I did notice the throttle felt a little smoother. Nothing crazy, but the car just felt a bit more responsive in normal traffic.
So yeah, the older port is fine. Just give it time to figure out your driving style before you judge it.
I’ve had mine running for a few hours while I was out and it never shut down on me. It got a bit warm when I picked it up later, but nothing that felt alarming. I’d just make sure it’s not sitting in direct sunlight or something.
I have a small pole saw chain and it worked fine, the clamp just squeezed down enough to hold it steady. Took a few tries to get the angle right since the chain was pretty narrow but once I did it sharpened up okay.
I think it depends a bit on where you put the unit and if there’s anything blocking the signal, but mine reaches across my office without any issues. Not totally sure about going through walls or anything, but within the same room it’s been fine for me.
I just hold it like a normal pen and it’s fine for me. Maybe my hands are already used to holding stuff for a while from gaming.
I’d probably just plug it in and see how it feels while I’m sitting at my desk. If it gets warm before I finish opening a browser tab, that’s good enough for me.
