Does the GrillWizz need to be stored on its charger?

I’m thinking about getting a GrillWizz but not sure about the battery. I don’t grill every day, maybe once a week in summer. If I charge it up and leave it in the garage for a couple weeks, will it still have power when I need it? Or does it slowly drain and I should just charge before each use? Just wondering how people handle the charging routine.

Mine sits for weeks and still has charge.

I leave mine off the charger in the shed for a month at a time and it fires right up. Lithium cells don’t drain like the old NiCad stuff did. Storing it topped off constantly is worse for it anyway.

I usually charge mine after a couple of uses and it has been fine sitting for a while. If you’re only grilling once a week you’re probably fine charging it every few weeks instead of before every cook.

I charge mine when the light gets low and that’s about it. Left it sitting for most of the winter and it still had enough to clean the grates on the first cook. If I know I’m doing a big deep clean I’ll top it off the night before, otherwise I just grab it and go.

I’ve had mine since last spring and the battery thing has been a bit up and down for me. If I charge it fully and leave it in the garage, it holds up fine for a few weeks, but I noticed mine dropped faster when I stored it somewhere that got really hot in the summer. My garage gets pretty brutal in July so I started keeping it inside on a shelf instead.

For your once a week thing, you’d probably get a few cleaning sessions out of one charge anyway. I don’t plug mine in after every use and it hasn’t died mid-scrub on me yet.

The only annoying part is the charging port cover. Mine gets gummed up with grease and I have to wipe it out before plugging in, otherwise the cable doesn’t seat right. So I tend to just top it off whenever I remember rather than waiting for it to fully die. Not a big deal, just something nobody mentions.

Mine actually sat in a cabinet for about six weeks last fall and still had plenty of juice when I grabbed it. I just top it off every few uses and it’s been fine. If you’re grilling weekly I doubt you’ll have any issue.

I don’t bother with the charger between uses, just plug it in the night before I know I’ll be grilling. That way it’s always full when I actually need it. Leaving it sitting for a week or two hasn’t been an issue for me either.

Mine loses a bit of charge if I let it sit for over a month, but nothing drastic. I still throw it on the charger the day before a cookout just to be safe. Not really a big deal either way.

Mine mostly lives in a drawer, not on the charger. I plug it in the night before a cookout and that’s been my whole routine since I got it.

Leaving it on the charger all the time is what I do. Had mine about eight months now and the battery still feels the same as day one. Sitting in a garage for weeks is different though, mine drops a bit if I forget about it that long.

I just leave mine plugged in on the workbench between cooks and it’s always ready to grab. Only time I’ve had an issue was after it sat untouched for most of the winter, and even then it had enough for a quick pass.

I wouldn’t count on it holding a charge for weeks. Mine sat for maybe ten days and was dead when I went to use it. I just charge mine the morning of now.

Good to know, I’ll just charge mine before I need it.
