I couldn’t tell either on my first try. I did a quarter panel and waited closer to five minutes because I got distracted, and it still buffed out fine. Shine held up for a couple weeks too.
The pressure thing is kind of overblown on paper but in real use it does make a difference with mud. I mostly grab mine for the wheel wells now, way less scrubbing there. Still use the hose for the rest though.
I haven’t had that problem, but mine sits on a shelf above the desk, not right next to the monitor. Down on the desk I could see it pushing paper around since the airflow is pretty directed.
I’ve had mine since spring and I use it maybe once a month on my truck just to knock down the little scuffs from work. Paint still looks the same as it did before I started using it, no dull spots or anything weird. I think the whole thing is just a mild abrasive, so as long as you’re not pressing hard it’s probably fine.
I can see why you’d ask. My port is under the dash sort of facing the floor, so the SynGas hangs down a bit. I was worried about it too, but after a few weeks I just stopped thinking about it. It’s been maybe two months now and it hasn’t moved or caused any issues.
The only thing I’d say is make sure it’s not in a spot where your foot or knee hits it when you get in and out. I had mine angled once where I kept bumping it getting in, and it eventually popped loose. Once I pushed it back in and let it hang the way it wanted to, it’s been fine since. The learning thing seems to just happen on its own, it doesn’t care which way it’s pointing. I wouldn’t stress about getting it positioned perfectly, just plug it in somewhere it won’t get knocked around.
I think the shape is close enough that you won’t feel like you’re learning all over again. The main thing I noticed was the extra firmness in the back, but that went away after a few nights. I wouldn’t say it’s a huge adjustment, just different enough that you notice it the first week.
That twitchy feeling is pretty much what it’s supposed to do once you turn it up. The prickly part might just be your skin getting used to it. I’d say keep it where it feels strong but not uncomfortable and work up from there.
Mine actually seemed to handle the synthetics better than the real corks, if anything. The firmer ones do take a second longer but I never felt like I had to hold it down harder or anything. Maybe yours just needs a bit more charge? I’ve noticed mine slows down when the battery is getting low.
I had mine with me for a few weeks and used it mostly for the same kind of thing. It handled simple back-and-forth just fine, no real lag that bothered me. I can see why people say it’s just an app in a box, but for me it was nice not to have my phone out all the time. If you already have a decent translation app you like, it’s probably not a must-buy.
Mine is still holding up fine after a couple months, honestly. I use it a few times a week and the smoothing side still feels like it does the job. Maybe I got lucky or maybe I just don’t press hard enough to wear it down.
I never had the old style ones, but I do remember fiddling with a friend’s once and it took some effort. The AlarmTag one is pretty smooth, I can pull it out one handed without thinking about it. That was the main thing I was worried about too, but it hasn’t been an issue.
I think the mic is fine for regular calls. I actually got mine for the translation too and was a little worried about the same thing, but I’ve taken a bunch of normal calls with them and nobody’s said I sound weird or muffled. The other person hears me fine and I hear them fine.
The only thing I noticed is that the earbuds feel a bit more focused on picking up your voice clearly, so if you’re in a noisy spot the call can sound a little flat on your end. But that’s not a big deal for me. I wouldn’t say you’re losing anything compared to a standard pair. Maybe the sound isn’t as warm or rich as some other earbuds, but for talking it does the job.
I’d say go for it if the translation side is what you want. The call part is good enough that you won’t be annoyed.
I used mine inside a small dome tent during a rainy weekend in June and it did the job. The tent was maybe a little bigger than a two person, and I hung it from the little loop at the top. The light gave off a soft blue-ish glow, enough to notice but not enough to keep me up or light up the whole tent. I actually liked that it was dim because I could still sleep.
The bugs definitely found it though. I heard the zapping noise off and on for the first hour or so, mostly tiny moths and mosquitoes. In the morning there were a few little specks around the bottom of it. Nothing gross, just a quick wipe with a napkin and it was clean.
Battery lasted me two nights without charging, but I was only running it for maybe four or five hours each night. I did bring a power bank anyway just in case, but I never needed it. One thing I will say, I would not use it as a lantern or anything. It is not that kind of light. It is more of a trap that happens to glow a little.
If you are expecting a bright light to see by, you will be disappointed. If you just want something to quietly catch bugs inside a closed tent, I think it works fine. I used mine again last week on a shorter trip and it performed the same. I would probably buy another one if I lost this one.
Mine actually surprised me on a longer trail day. I did mostly photos and maybe ten short clips total, and the battery still had a good chunk left when I got back to the car. I kept the screen off almost the whole time though. Sounds like yours might be draining from something else, maybe the Wi-Fi staying active in the background.
I was expecting more of a difference honestly. Ive had mine about a month and I cant say the water feels dramatically softer to me, but my skin does seem less itchy after showers. Could be the chlorine thing or could just be in my head. Either way its not hurting anything.
I had the same thought when I first ran mine along the driveway. It does fling a fair amount of stuff, but after a few uses I just figured that’s the trade-off for it actually biting into the thick growth instead of bouncing off. Sounds normal to me.
I get why people want the option to swap SIMs, but I actually prefer it locked to their plans. I’d rather just turn it on and have data work without messing around with local SIMs or worrying about which carrier works where. Less hassle for me.
Pretty sure I saw the filters are around 20 bucks each. I change mine about every three months but honestly it depends on your water. Works fine for me.
Honestly it’s probably not that deep. Old wiring or new, the thing either does something or it doesn’t. Mine’s been plugged in for a while and I haven’t had any issues with it.
I think it really depends on the cardholder. Some of those slim ones are already at their limit with 4 cards, so the Guardality might make it bulge a little. I’ve had ok luck with mine, but I only keep 3 cards in there.
Honestly, I wouldn’t overthink it too much. I run mine on high most of the time and it gets me through a couple of grills without dying. Never actually timed it myself, but it’s never let me down mid-clean.
I think it’s probably nothing. Mine had a little oddness at first too but it sorted itself out pretty quick.
