MemberI picked up a Guardality card recently and I’m not sure where to actually keep it in my wallet. Should it go in the same slot as my contactless cards or does it need to be separate? I’ve been just sticking it in with them and things seem fine, but I wanted to check. Not a big deal either way, just curious how everyone else does it.

MemberMine stays in the same slot as my contactless cards and it’s been that way for months. Still works fine, no issues with tapping or anything. I don’t think it needs its own separate spot.

MemberMine just lives behind my main debit card and I’ve never had a tap fail because of it. That’s really the only spot that made sense to me since it needs to sit near the cards anyway. If yours has been working fine, that’s probably all there is to it.

MemberMine sits in the front slot by itself. I tried keeping it with my other cards for a bit and my taps got weird at a couple of registers, so I moved it. Could’ve been the terminal, but separate has been fine since.

Emma ReadsMemberMine ended up in the little window pocket on the outside of my wallet, mostly because that’s the one spot that was still empty. Figured it was better than stacking it with everything else. No clue if it matters, but it’s stayed there since.

MemberSeparate slot works better for me.

MemberI actually keep mine in a different spot than my cards, and it’s mostly because of how I use my wallet day to day. I’ve got one of those bifold wallets with the flip-out card section, and I found that when the Guardality was jammed in with everything else, pulling out the card I actually wanted to pay with felt more fiddly. Not a huge deal, but annoying enough that I moved it to the back slot behind my IDs. So it’s still in the wallet, just not sharing space with the tap cards.
My preference is definitely separate slots though. I like knowing exactly where it is when I open the wallet, and it keeps the stack from getting too thick in one spot. I’ve had the same wallet for about two years now and the card section is already pretty stuffed, so anything that adds bulk to one slot makes it harder to flip through. Putting the Guardality by itself in the back solved that for me.
I know some folks just toss it in with everything and call it a day, and that’s totally fine. I just found I prefer having it in its own little home. Makes the wallet feel more organized, and I’m less likely to forget it’s even there.

coffeeandscreensParticipantI went through a phase where I tried to keep mine in its own dedicated spot and honestly it just annoyed me more than anything. My wallet isn’t huge, so having a separate slot for one card meant juggling things around every time I opened it, and I kept forgetting where it was. These days I just tuck it in wherever there’s room, usually somewhere in the middle of the stack.
My take is that the slot itself matters less than people think, as long as it’s actually in there with the cards you want covered. I like having it mixed in because it’s one less thing to think about. That said, I do notice my wallet is a bit chunkier than before, which is the one tradeoff I actually care about since I’m picky about how my stuff feels in my pocket.
So no strong opinion on the perfect spot. I just prioritize not having to reorganize my wallet every time.

Paul847ParticipantI actually keep mine in the same slot as my contactless cards and it’s been fine for about three months now. Taps still work every time at the store. Maybe it depends on the wallet thickness or something, not sure.

MemberI’m still figuring this stuff out too, so I don’t have a strong opinion on the perfect spot. When I first got mine, I put it behind my main debit card in the same slot and just left it there. That was maybe two months ago and I haven’t noticed any issues with paying or tapping in. No clue if that’s technically the “right” way, but it hasn’t caused me any trouble yet. I figure as long as it’s in the wallet somewhere near the cards, it’s probably doing its job. I might try a different pocket at some point just to see if anything changes, but for now I’m not messing with it. Curious what you end up doing.

Tom in NYCMemberSame slot works but I’d check one thing first. Mine sat with my contactless cards for a while and taps were fine, but I noticed my transit card stopped reading reliably at the turnstile after a few weeks. Took me way too long to figure out the Guardality was sitting right on top of it. Moved it to the other side of the wallet and the transit card went back to normal. Payment cards never had an issue though, so it seems like it depends on the card.
People act like these things are invisible but they’re literally blocking a signal, so if it’s pressed right against the card you actually need to read, that can bite you. I don’t think keeping it with your contactless cards is dangerous or anything. It’s just that “seems fine” can flip on you depending on which card you’re trying to use and how thick your wallet is.

Luis_A91MemberI’d keep it separate. Mine sat with my cards for a couple weeks and I kept second guessing every tap, so I just moved it to the back slot and stopped thinking about it.

MemberI just toss mine in the main card slot and forget about it. Been doing that since I got it and nothing weird has happened with my taps. If it ever starts acting up I’ll move it, but so far so good.

MemberThe only thing I’d watch is stacking it directly against a transit card. Mine kept reading fine but my bus card got fussy unless I pulled it out first. Other than that it just lives in the front slot with everything else.

Tom RayMemberMine lives right in the middle of the card stack and that’s been fine for about five months. I mostly care that it doesn’t add bulk, and it doesn’t. Beyond that I never really think about placement.

Mike in TXMemberSame slot is fine. I’ve had mine in with my debit and credit cards for about eight months now and nothing’s changed on my end. The only thing I actually notice is that it adds a tiny bit of stiffness, but that’s it.

MemberEnded up leaving mine in the same slot, works fine.
