I actually ended up running mine during the day instead of at night because my place is empty then, and that seemed to make more of a difference than anything. Pests get used to whatever routine you set, so flipping it on and off randomly probably isn’t doing you any favors.
I only really use mine around 8 or 9pm when there’s still a bit of light left and it does fine for birds and stuff moving against the sky. Bats should show up okay, they’re just small so you mostly catch the shape flicking past. Mine’s the basic model though so the zoom helps more than anything.
The fan noise on mine is actually kind of soothing, like a little white noise machine in the corner. I run it overnight sometimes and it helps me sleep. Different strokes I guess.
For one chilly room, something like that is usually enough to take the edge off. Mine warms up fast but the heat stays pretty close to it, so it’s more of a “point it where you are” thing than a real room heater.
I’d just pick one app and stick with it instead of bouncing between a few. That was my mistake at first. I had the Aptofit app on my phone plus another tracker I’d been using, and having both open seemed to mess with things. Not the steps, those were fine either way. But the heart rate readings looked different depending on which app I checked, and I couldn’t tell which one was actually pulling from the watch. Once I deleted the extra one and let the Aptofit app handle everything, it was way less confusing. So if you already have a fitness app you like, I’d try that one first and see if the basics come through. If they don’t, then fall back to the Aptofit app. I don’t know if the sleep data ever makes it over to other apps though, that part never worked for me.
Since I wasn’t sure either, I actually messaged their support before buying and asked for the full list. They sent it over pretty fast. Might be worth doing that if you’ve got a specific language in mind.
Mine have been fine with both my work laptop and phone, but I don’t think it’s fair to expect instant switching. There’s always a couple seconds where the audio has to catch up when I move between them. Never had to forget and re-pair though, it just remembers both and hops over when I select it.
I’ve done the half fill thing plenty of times, usually when I’m just topping it off with whatever’s left in my water bottle. Never noticed it messing with the cooling much. It still blows cold air, just runs out sooner obviously. I think the 8 hour thing is only if you fill it to the top anyway, so you’re not losing anything by doing half. It’s not like it stops working or gets weaker when the tank isn’t full. The only thing I’d say is if you’re using ice, a half full tank means the water gets cold faster or stays colder for a bit, which is kind of nice. So I wouldn’t stress about filling it all the way every time. It’s not a fancy machine where you need to hit some exact level. Just pour what you’ve got and let it run.
I think it depends on what you mean by “different.” The Nunawave is definitely not the same as those cheap pharmacy ones, but it’s not like you’re wearing a whole different kind of appliance either. The material feels more solid and it sits a bit differently because it’s not just a thin plastic shell. It has more presence in your mouth, if that makes sense.
The one big thing for me was the first few nights. A regular guard you kind of forget about after a while. With this one, I was more aware of it, mostly because it’s a little bulkier around the front teeth. That went away after maybe a week though.
I wouldn’t say it’s harder to get used to, just different enough that you notice it at first. If you’re already used to sleeping with a guard, it’s not a huge leap.
I’m going against the grain here, but I don’t think it’s worth using on older chains at all. I grabbed one specifically to try and breathe some life into a chain that had been sitting in my shed for a couple seasons, and honestly, it felt like I was just wasting my time. The cutter teeth were uneven and the edges were pretty rounded off, and the tool just couldn’t get a good grip to do anything meaningful. It slid around more than it sharpened.
I think the whole idea that it can restore a rough chain is oversold. If you’ve been using your chain regularly and just need a quick touch-up, sure, it’s probably fine. But if you’re hoping it’ll fix something that’s been neglected or abused, you’re better off just getting a new chain. I learned that the hard way.
It really depends what you’re comparing it to. My old pull-down had that grayish backing too, and the ScryneX is definitely brighter/whiter in comparison. I wouldn’t call it a plain white sheet, but it doesn’t have that same contrast-boosting tint, so daytime viewing in a bright room will wash out a bit more. For a living room with windows, I’d keep expectations realistic.
For me it came down to how you hold it while working. I didn’t find the weight bad, but the shape makes it awkward after a bit if you’re reaching around stuff. Not bulky exactly, just not as balanced as I hoped.
The prickly sensation usually calms down for me once my muscles get used to the level. I found that starting at a medium for a minute or two before bumping it up makes the transition way smoother and less jarring.
i’ve used mine in an airport and on the train a few times. the other person could hear me okay, but i could tell they were hearing some of the rumble in the background too. it wasn’t terrible, just noticeable. i wouldn’t expect them to completely cancel out loud environments, but for normal calls they’ve been fine for me.
We keep ours in the hallway near the laundry room, not right by the bowls, but the cat definitely wanders over to it sometimes out of curiosity. She’s never gotten zapped or seemed bothered by the glow. If the dog is super nosy, maybe just watch her the first time it kicks on.
I get why people say it’s manageable, but I had a different experience on my windows. The spray tends to fan out more than I expected once you pull back even a little, and that’s when it starts leaving droplets everywhere. It’s not a total mess, but I wouldn’t call it neat either.
I’m terrible at schedules too, so I just set a reminder on my phone for every three months. Takes two seconds and I don’t have to think about it. The water pressure drop is pretty gradual, so I wouldn’t rely on feeling it.
I’ve paired mine with a Pixel and it worked the same as any other Bluetooth earbuds I’ve used. The app is where the translation stuff happens, but as regular earbuds for music and calls they connect fine. I didn’t have to mess with developer options or anything like that.
I think people exaggerate how much louder it gets. I run mine in heating mode almost every evening and the difference is pretty minor to me. Maybe I just don’t notice it as much since the room is already quiet, but I wouldn’t let that stop you.
I’ve got mine sitting on top of a dresser about three feet from my bed and it’s been fine. I just made sure the cord wasn’t running under anything and that the front wasn’t pointed right at the curtains. Haven’t had any issues with it being near furniture, but I don’t shove stuff right up against it either.
I think it depends a lot on what you’re used to. I wore mine maybe five or six times and it was fine for the first few minutes, but after a while I could feel it pressing against my cheeks. Not painful, just noticeable. If you already have a small mouth, I’d probably try to find one you can test or borrow before dropping the money on it.
I think the real difference comes down to what you actually want from it. I grabbed a ceramic fan heater a couple years back for the same portability reason and honestly the heat is just different. The radiator feels like it warms the whole side of the room evenly. The fan one is more like standing in front of a warm breeze. It works great if you’re sitting still at a desk or reading in bed, but if you’re moving around the room it’s not the same cozy heat.
That said, I actually prefer the fan heater for my setup. I work from home and I only need my little corner warm while I’m at my desk. I don’t really care about the rest of the room. If you’re the type that likes the whole room feeling warm and settled, you might miss the radiator. For me, the quick blast and easy moving around wins out.
