Mine lands somewhere in the middle of all that. I get about 35 hours realistically, and I’m not doing anything special, just podcasts and some YouTube during the day. The LCD case makes it easy to check so I’m not guessing. Close enough for what I paid.
Cooler weather didn’t do mine any favors either. I had one in the garage last winter and it was done closer to two and a half weeks. The cold seems to kill the scent faster than heat in my case.
I’ve had one on my desk for maybe four months now and my main gripe is the noise, not the heat. It does throw warm air pretty much right away which is nice when I sit down with my coffee, but the fan has that constant whir that I notice more than I expected. I’m picky about background noise though since I’m on calls half the day, so I end up switching it off during meetings and just dealing with cold hands until I’m done. If you don’t care about that stuff it’s fine. Heat wise it’s decent for having it pointed at me, less so for the actual room. I kept mine because it’s convenient and I’m lazy about returning things, but I wouldn’t call it silent like the box suggests.
Been on a septic for six years and I’ve put it down our bathroom sink twice now. Tank guy pumped it this spring and said everything looked normal, so I’m not losing sleep over it. But I only reach for it when a drain is actually slow, not as a monthly thing.
The way I understand it, these things are basically just Bluetooth, so for a checked bag it’s less “live tracking” and more “here’s the last place my phone happened to catch it.” Which can still tell you something, just not in a constant dot moving across a map kind of way. I’ve messed with enough little trackers to know the marketing makes it sound way more capable than it usually is in practice. So if you’re picturing watching your bag the whole flight, that’s probably not happening. If you just want some clue that it made it onto the plane or showed up somewhere along the way, that’s a different story. For me it’s the kind of gadget that’s fine for peace of mind but not something I’d rely on as my only plan.
Back pocket has worked fine for me, same as the front. I’ve been carrying mine in my wallet back there for a few months and it still does its job. Heat and pressure haven’t been an issue at all.
If you keep them in the car, I’d say grab some kind of cheap case anyway, because the lenses will get scratched eventually just sliding around. I remember being mildly annoyed that they skipped the pouch too, but honestly I probably would have lost it in a week anyway. A basic microfiber bag costs like five bucks and does the job.
I move mine around way more than the manual suggests honestly. The weird buzzy feeling for me is usually around the 7-8 minute mark and I just slide the pads over an inch or two and it settles down again. I figure the 10-20 minutes is a guideline, not a rule.
The fit is definitely a bit more substantial than the cheap drugstore ones. It’s still flexible, but it hugs your teeth more and feels a little bulkier in the mouth. Took me a couple nights to stop noticing it, but now it’s no different than my old one. I actually prefer the snugger feel since it stays put better.
Good to know it’s not just me. Sounds like the synthetic cork brand makes a big difference, which tracks with what I’ve seen. I’ll probably just keep using mine and see how it goes. Appreciate the input everyone.
I’d just buy one ahead of time and not stress about whether it’s in the box. These budget action cams almost never include one, and even if this one did, it’d probably be some tiny 16GB card that fills up after like ten minutes of 4K anyway. I picked up a 128GB for mine when I got it and that’s been plenty for a weekend of clips here and there.
The annoying part is that if you order it and wait, you’re stuck staring at the camera for a day or two before you can actually use it. That happened to me with a different cam once and it drove me nuts. A card is cheap enough that it’s not worth the hassle of hoping. Just grab one from wherever and you’re set the second it shows up.
I’d say just plan on buying one. I’ve had mine for a few months now and I don’t remember seeing anything in the box other than the mounts and the waterproof case. It’s kind of annoying because you think for the price it would at least come with a tiny card to test it out, but nope.

If you’re planning on snorkeling and recording for long stretches, you might want to grab a backup card too. I think if it’s consistently overcounting you’ll probably get used to it eventually, but I get why it bugs you. I’d just wear it for a week or two and see if the totals are still way out of whack compared to before. If they are, I’d probably just reset it and start fresh.

It never actually spilled over though, just got close and then kind of settled.
I think the amount of foam depends on how much gunk is actually in there reacting with the stuff. The first time it was pretty dramatic because that drain was bad. The second time I used it a few weeks later on the same drain just for maintenance, it barely foamed at all, which made sense since there wasn’t much buildup left to chew through.
As long as it’s not actively pouring out onto the floor, I’d say you’re fine. The directions say to add hot water after the powder, so maybe just make sure you’re following that order and not adding extra water than what they suggest.
Good to know, thanks for the replies. That makes sense since it basically just creates its own little bubble between the phone and the car. I was overthinking the garage thing, sounds like it’ll be fine.
I use mine mostly while I’m on calls and honestly it does fine for that. The strap holds it well enough for normal sitting, though if I’m reaching for my keyboard or twisting around a lot I do have to nudge it back into place. Not a big deal for me since I’m not exactly jogging around with it on.
Pretty sure that’s normal. My old desk heater did the same click for years and never had a problem. I wouldn’t lose sleep over it.
I’ve used mine one-sided a few times when I’m just listening to music or a podcast around the house and it worked fine. Never tried the translation that way though, so I can’t really say if it cuts out or not. I’d probably just test it with something simple first before relying on it for an actual conversation.
I’ve seen a few people mention it’s quieter than the old blade fans. I’d probably just grab one if you’re tired of that airplane noise, even medium is probably way more bearable than what you have now.
They toss a few sizes in the box, small ones included. I wouldn’t overthink it, you’ll probably find one that works well enough.
