MemberSaw this thing and it’s a wire brush head, not a line. My trimmer is bump feed so I don’t see how it attaches. Anyone actually put a Qinux VultrioX on a bump feed trimmer or do I need a straight shaft? Not trying to buy a whole new machine for a weed eater head.

MemberI’d skip it if your trimmer is bump feed only. Most of those wire heads need you to pull the whole spool housing off and bolt the plate straight to the shaft, and a lot of bump heads don’t have that setup. I’d just run regular line and not deal with swapping machines over a weed eater head.

MemberMine bolted straight on the bump feed shaft, no problem.

MemberMine came with a few different mounting washers in the box, and one of them lined up with the bump head threads on my old Ryobi. Took a couple minutes to swap over. Whether it fits yours really depends on the shaft thread size though.

Nina WhiteMemberI went through this same thing last summer, except my trimmer is a straight shaft and I still had trouble. The wire head I bought was supposed to be universal but the arbor hole was way bigger than my shaft, so the plate just wobbled around. I ended up returning it and getting a different brand that actually came with the right adapter. So even with a straight shaft it’s not always plug and play.
From what I’ve seen, the bump feed thing isn’t really the deciding factor. It’s more about the thread size and whether the head sits flat on your existing collar. Some bump trimmers have a weird stepped shape where the spool sits that a flat metal plate won’t contact properly. You’d probably need to look at the underside of your trimmer and see if there’s a flat spot to mount against. If it’s all curved plastic, that’s your answer.

MemberI’d just run mine on the bump feed as is.

MemberThe whole bump feed thing gets overblown. Mine is a bump feed and I ran a wire head on it for most of last season. You just take the spool off and the plate goes on the same shaft. Nothing special needed.
What I will say is the wire head changes how you use the trimmer more than the attachment itself. Bump feeding lets you tap out more line as you go and keep the cut light. With wire you set it and that’s it, so you end up leaning on the machine harder in tall stuff. My trimmer handled it fine but it runs warmer than it did with line, and it eats fuel faster.
It did great on the stuff line just shredded on, moss between pavers and weeds along the fence. Nice not stopping every few minutes to bump.
So yes it fits a bump feed. Just know you’re trading convenience for a heavier cut.

MemberA wire head doesn’t care if your trimmer is bump feed. The bump part is just the spool, and that comes off with the head. So no, you don’t need a straight shaft.

MarkD87MemberMine went on a curved shaft bump trimmer and honestly it’s been fine for the last few weeks. I mostly use it along the driveway edge where my line kept snapping. The wire head is heavier though, so the trimmer feels a bit more nose heavy now.

MemberThe bump feed isn’t the issue. Mine came with different washers and one fit the threads on my curved shaft trimmer fine. Took a few minutes to swap over.

Rachel ColeMemberBump feed isn’t the problem, the threads are.

MemberMine needed an adapter, not a whole new trimmer.

Maria_BakesMemberI put mine on a bump feed trimmer and it went on without any adapter at all. The spool just comes off and the wire head screws right on. So no, you don’t need a straight shaft for this.

MemberThreads are the whole game, bump feed is irrelevant.

MemberFigured it was just threads. Ordered one, moving on.
