So I have my Wi-Fi router tucked inside a wooden cabinet in the living room, and I was thinking about sticking an ODIN SafeWave EMF on it. But I’m not sure if the cabinet would block whatever the sticker is supposed to do. Does it still work if the router is kind of enclosed? I know it’s passive and all that, just wondering if placement matters that much. Anyone tried it in a similar spot?

A wooden cabinet will absolutely affect how much that sticker can do. If it’s already having trouble getting signal out, a passive sticker isn’t going to magically reach through the wood either. Placement matters way more than people selling these things admit.

Cabinet placement probably cancels out most of what it does.

I actually have one stuck to the router in our bedroom and the router sits on a shelf with a door that stays closed most of the time. It’s been on there for about four months now and I haven’t noticed any difference in how the wifi behaves, which was my main worry when I first put it on. I know people online say the enclosure messes with the shielding effect, but I honestly can’t tell either way from using it. What I can say is the sticker hasn’t peeled or done anything weird even with the router running warm in there all day. My husband thinks the whole thing is silly but he also hasn’t complained about the internet once, so there’s that. I’d say just stick it on and see how you feel about it. It’s not like it’s going to hurt anything sitting in a cabinet.

Placement does matter but maybe not in the way people assume. The sticker doesn’t need line of sight to “work” the way a signal booster would. It’s passive, so the cabinet isn’t really blocking it from doing whatever it does. What the cabinet does affect is the router’s own signal, which is a separate thing entirely. If your Wi-Fi already reaches fine with the router in there, the sticker situation doesn’t really change. If the Wi-Fi is struggling, that’s a router placement problem, not a sticker problem. I’d say stick it on and not overthink the cabinet aspect. The enclosure matters way more for the router’s performance than for the sticker itself. Most people probably have theirs tucked somewhere and don’t notice any difference either way.

I stuck one on our router mainly for peace of mind, not because I expect it to do something dramatic. The cabinet thing wouldn’t change my mind either way, since it’s just a passive sticker sitting there. Mine’s been attached for a few months now and I honestly forget it exists half the time.

A sticker isn’t doing anything through a cabinet door, wooden or not. I tried one on a router in a closed media console for two months and noticed zero difference. If you want it visible, stick it somewhere you actually look at it.

Everyone’s overcomplicating this. A wooden cabinet doesn’t block a passive sticker any more than the router’s own plastic shell does, so placement barely matters. Mine’s been on a router in a closed cabinet for months and nothing changed either way.

I’d probably just leave it on the router and not worry about the cabinet too much. Mine is stuck to the router in our hallway closet, which is a similar setup, and I honestly forgot it was even in there until this thread popped up. That was maybe four months ago and nothing has changed as far as I can tell, Wi-Fi still reaches the kitchen fine and the sticker is still stuck on there. If you’re asking whether you need to move the router out in the open just for the sticker, I wouldn’t bother. The cabinet is more of a concern for the Wi-Fi signal itself than for something like this. I’d stick it on, close the door, and get on with your day.

If it were me I’d just stick it on the router and move on. The cabinet is a non issue in my mind, it’s not like the sticker needs open air to do its thing. I’d probably put it on the top or side where it’s easy to reach and forget about it.

I have mine on a router in a downstairs cupboard and never gave the enclosure much thought. If the thing is purely passive I doubt a bit of wood changes anything. I mostly bought it because it was cheap and easy, not because I expect a visible result.

Wood cabinet, plastic router shell, doesn’t matter. These stickers don’t do anything in the first place, so placement is a moot point. If it makes you feel better, stick it wherever.

Placement definitely matters, but not for the reason people think. The adhesive on those things is pretty weak once a router gets warm, and mine peeled off the side after about a week. Ended up just taping it flat on top instead.

If the sticker is actually doing anything, enclosing the router in wood should matter just as much as the sticker does. I don’t buy that a passive layer on the router fixes exposure coming from the whole device. Placement probably matters more than people here are admitting.
